This has possibly the weakest cast of all the DTV's. I hope it turns out good but this cast doesn't really excite me in anyway.
If you're not excited about Peter Weller, you have no soul. And we don't even know who's voicing Gordon, Joker, Green Arrow or Superman yet.

Heat Vision reports that Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video have set the voice cast for its upcoming animation adaptation of Frank Miller's classic 1986 tale The Dark Knight Returns.

They say the story is being split up into two animated features titled Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 and Part 2, with Part 1 hitting stores in the fall and Part 2 coming in early 2013.

Peter Weller (Robocop) will star as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Modern Family’s middle child Ariel Winter will play Robin.

Also in the cast are David Selby, the veteran actor who starred in the original Dark Shadows soap opera as well as the classic 1980s soap Falcon Crest; Wade Williams (Prison Break) as Harvey Dent/Two-Face; and Michael McKean as Dr. Wolper, the psychiatrist who releases the Joker from the insane asylum.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is being directed by Jay Oliva, who storyboarded Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman movie Man of Steel, from a script by Bob Goodman. They site adds the following synopsis for the title:

The Dark Knight Returns is set in a near future where Batman is retired and Gotham City has slid into a dystopian state ruled by a gang of hooligans called The Mutants. The 55-year old Bruce Wayne is forced to don the cape once more, this time partnering with a female Robin to not only stop the Joker but keep the peace when the city falls into chaos after being hit by an electromagnetic pulse.

Peter Weller is Batman? The same Peter Weller who played Robocop and inspired me to join the police later in life, only then to find out I couldn't cause David Cameron cut police jobs...that Peter Weller? HURRAH!!! :D

Robocop himself as the voice of Batman?!! Excellent choice!! Very appropriate, in a way, since both Miller's TDKR and Verhoeven's Robocop made a big impact in the mid 80's in the way we look at superheroes!

Now, who is David Selby playing? Alfred, maybe?

Who's voicing The Joker? The Mutant leader? Superman? Selina Kyle? James Gordon? Hope we get answers soon!!

If I were drinking something I would have spit it out! :wow:

Inspired casting.

That was Peter Weller? For being such a big Robocop fan I'm embarrassed to say I couldn't tell it was him. :(

Awesome news though.

I hope no big Robocop fan bashed the bat-voice in the trailer... :funny:

Omg David Selby! Didn't say who he's voicing but my guess is either Gordon or Alfred.

HELL YES! it's great to have Robocop voice Batman. looking back on his most recent work on Dexter, i think Weller will do an excellent job.

David Selby Is probally voicing Alfred or gordon.Superman and The Joker may not be
In the first part.

My suspecion Is part 1 will end with Batman defeating the Mutant leader.Part 2 can The return of the Joker.Batman's final showdown with the Joker and Batman VS Superman.

why not just release a whole 3 hour film instead of 2 parts at an hour & 30 min?

why not just release a whole 3 hour film instead of 2 parts at an hour & 30 min?

They only give a set budget for one movie... worth 70-75 mins. They weren't going to double it.

Guess WB thought, ''Split it in two and that'll sort out the fall/spring schedule for this line''.

Who knew Peter Weller and Bryan Cranston would be voicing Batman characters someday?

What date will this be out?

All we know so far is Fall 2012...

Could be as early as the last week of September based on past DC animated movie fall releases.

But I have a funny feeling they will launch it alongside TDKR blu-ray.

This. Looks. Beautiful.

John DiMaggio as the Joker please. I can't hear Hamill as this version of The Joker at all. TDKR's Joker is way too deadpan for Hamill.
