This is actually looking promising...and I honestly don't give a crap about these animated films usually. Hoping they do The Long Halloween next if this turns out well.

Long Halloween would be sick

though a Killing Joke would be even sicker!

Ooooh. The animation looks suitable to me.

I'm sure I'm painting a big red target on the back of my head by saying this but I'm not sure I ever "got" TDKR. I liked the begining with Batman returning, and I understand how its important in the history of the Batman character, but I had alot of questions and some problems after reading the story. However I often rely on these anmated movies to make me go and read the books they are based on and give me a better understanding and appreciation for the source material so either way I am looking forward to this. Who's playing Batman and the Joker?

It's really sad that American animation is so poor in comparison to Japanese animation.

Young Justice's animation is excellent. Definitely anime level if you ask me.

Reminiscent to Studio Pierrot's better work.

Yeah... Young Justice is consistently beautiful.

Sadly, I think they have pulled back the budget for these DC DVD's... not to mention their marketing budget.

Yeah..let's not go that far. Year One looked fantastic and that was a decent at best DTV.

I think Year One was fantastic and honestly this to me looks better than the stills to year one did, it looks like a mix of classic Timm and slight anime influence with and infusion of Millers work.

It's really sad that American animation is so poor in comparison to Japanese animation.

At its best, Western animation doesn't hold a candle to the more rudimentary of Japanese stuff. Just which they could hire no the Eastern studios with an appropriate budget....but studios just won't spend that kind of dough and resources.

But even with terrific animation, I wouldn't want to see a literal translation of a comic even to an animated format...I'd rather they adapt it to make a good animated piece by itself first and foremost. Not that the comic is bad...it's legendary as far as I'm concerned. But it still does what it does best as a comic within that format, not something that's doing its utmost to simulate a film, so to speak. Year One's version was almost painful in that regard.
