PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
While searching the internet for black and white images of characters, I noticed that there were very few, and the ones I did find, looked like they came from a coloring book. I decided that the best course of action would be to simply make my own place where free black and white images would be accessible to anyone who was interested in using them.
That is the point of this thread. To provide any colorists looking for material with free, high quality images they can use for submissions to schools, submissions to businesses, or to simply showcase their skills.
If you would like to post a black and white pic, please do so. This will not only benefit the colorists looking for original material, but can also help you gain a little bit more exposure.
**And, Colorists, if youre looking for a particular character, feel free to make a request!**
Now some rules:
Posters:
1. Post only original images. Do not copy directly or trace. These images should be original. Whether you would like to post an original character of your own or an existing character is up to you. This is non profit, so youre safe to draw who youd like. (Just remember to identify if the character youve drawn is original or pre-existing, to avoid any complications.)
2. Always sign your work. Make sure your signature is written on the work and typed below it. This way, if someone does use your work for something, it will be easy for them to give you credit for the original image.
Colorists:
1. Always give credit to the original artist as well as yourself. This is especially true if you plan on using any of these images for submission purposes. (If you are using them for submissions, it would also be a good idea to keep a copy of the original black and white on file, too.) Simply posting an image that you colored without citing the other artist is almost the same as stealing.
2. This one is more of a friendly request: let us all see what youve done. If youve done some work and are planning on submitting it, let us check it out, too. A little extra feedback never hurts.
Look, these rules arent here to aggravate you guys. Theyre just here to prevent any legal problems that someone could run into. Schools and companies sometimes view drawing and coloring as two completely separate fields. I know it can be tough to find original, legal b and w pictures to use if you cant draw, but still want to color. These rules are there to keep you out of trouble if any you do use some of the pics..
