Let's be real here though - you're a Snyder fan. You run in different circles than most of us here, plain and simple. That's why they "dominate the conversations" you see. And sure, you can say they're all "just Superman fans" all you want, but I'm sorry, I'm not buying that. I've encountered way too many of those people to believe that. Even the ones who were Reeve/Supes comics fans before Snyder came along but ultimately tended to favor his version. I've dealt with a few of those myself. They are the ones who loved Superman for what I consider the "wrong" reasons - we'll call them the Macho Power-Fantasy fans. The ones who flew into a rage whenever Supes lost a fight on Supergirl or S&L. The "Supes is my Alpha Hero" crowd significantly overlap with the toxic manosphere as well, which is why they gravitate toward Snyder's version. Their opinions are no more worth listening to than the ones who never gave the character of Superman the time of day before Snyder imo. Some of us have muted and blocked a bunch of those people over the years for a reason. Because they are loud, but they are not as many as they pretend to be. And they are sure as hell not remotely representative of the general audience (hence failed films and lackluster viewing numbers for Zack's projects) OR the general feeling online. But if they're the people you gravitated toward during the Snyder era and continue to hang with, then of course you're gonna have a skewed view of what the response to this movie has been. Those people were gonna hate on everything they see here no matter what. Having those toxic influences muted/blocked on various platforms really changes one's perspective of the online conversation. And it's much more pleasant, I must say.I've been a part of Facebook groups for as long as I can remember. I am a pretty big collector and I mingle with a lot of fans in these groups. Moderators do a phenomenal job in banning spammers and bots. They all attack one another in the groups themselves. The drama runs deep. What I don't understand, is if all Snyder fans are "bots", imbeciles from hell, cultists, and a minority, then why do they dominate every conversation? I've seen DC pages on social media formed to do nothing but combat the Snyder fandom. It's a sight to behold the ruckus the division has caused. The fanbase is so fractured beyond repair.
And please don't try to "both sides" me on this. As a mod here, I've encountered angry fans from every fandom we have on this site - Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter...you name it. I know they all have their bad apples. But the type of threats I got from the Snyder Cultists on this board (and these were multiple members, not just one - there's a shockingly consistent pattern of hostile behavior throughout) are beyond anything I have gotten from any of the others. And it's well-known they did the same to members of the former WB regime. All fandoms are not created equal, and we're past the point of pretending they are. Snyder's films with their videogamey macho-wannabe-"badass" visuals and their edgelord themes specifically attract a certain type of toxic male fan that other IP's do far less. There's a reason this section and the Batboard are both much more civil and chill than the BvS section was back in the day. Hint: most of the Cult got themselves banned, for very good reason.
I appreciate that we have some good folks here who happen to like Snyder's films. That's cool. Like what you like! But DO NOT try to start a Snyder Cult defense tour on here, because that's where my appreciation ends. Just drop the topic. They're the past, and not worth discussing, plain and simple. This is a glorious time of hype and a fresh start from an over decade-long dark age for DC, so let's just enjoy this exciting new era, and leave the Cult's opinions to their echochamber where it belongs.
