Horror Friday The 13th Reboot | WB/New Line??

I don't see what more they can really do with this franchise that they already didn't do with the 2009 reboot. That opened huge at the time as well.

It also had a killer teaser.
They should get Mears to play Jason for this, I love Kane Hodder, but Mears is easily the best Jason the franchise has had imo. I honestly wouldn't be mad if this film ended up being a lot like the reboot just with better written supporting characters, the reboot did a lot of things right that the previous films had been screwing up since the fifth film, in a way it kind of did what the new Halloween did, it wiped the slate mostly clean and went back to the basics, it also portrayed Jason in a manner that distinctly separated him from Michael Myers. If I remember correctly one of the sequel ideas for it would've taken place in the winter, bummed we never got to see that.

I do like the suggestion some people have made of making this new reboot a period film set in the 80's, that would be a good way to take a back to basics approach without just feeling like the 2009 film all over again.

Winter seems like such an obvious move, do it already.

Seeing the typical overreactions, Lebron James will likely be involved in a monetary role as producer not creatively. His involvement might actually be pivotal in getting the film off the ground.

You beat me to the punch.
And I hope and pray this is what his involvement will be.
I hope his newfound passion doesn't cloud his judgment in thinking he's an A-list movie producer.

Honestly I'd kind of like the idea of a Black female lead. Those are so rare in these type of films.

He has every right if he's footing the bill tho.

Hopefully we see a movie eventually!

Even though this definitely won’t happen, I always imagine what Nick Acosta’s early draft for Friday the 13tn would have looked like on the screen. It had a lot of really good elements, just needed a bit more work!

Can't we just let this franchise rest in peace and try new horror franchises/new icons already?

That's how you get **** like Insidious ad Annabelle

Some ideas for the possible film:

-Non-White lead. I have nothing against White leads mind you, but it'd be a nice change of pace imho.

-Winter setting. Having the teens be snowed in by a blizzard would make it plausible that they couldn't just go for help. Plus you could play around with how Jason creeps around in the snow, and the red blood on white snow would just look really cool.

-Don't have the teens be too dumb annoying. The best films in the series have characters who, while fairly basic, are at least fairly likeable/not irritating.

-If you cannot get Derek Mears back to play Jason, which I'd much prefer myself, then at least get an actor who can match his presence, intimidation factor, and intensity as Jason.

-Get creative with the kills. The remake had some pretty good ones, but we can do even better I think.

-Let the main female lead be more openly sexual. I mean sure a couple other films in the series have implied it (the first two in particular), but go more overt with it. Hey she can *gasp* have a sex life and NOT be a person worthy of death and still be the heroine in the end.

-Have more than one person live.

-Cool practical effects and minimal CGI.

-For the love of all thing's sacred, find a director and writer who care about the series and have a cool take on the material. Blumhouse did this with Halloween with DGG and Danny McBride, so do it for F13th as well.

Comedy writers make for good storytellers.

That's because comedy and horror have
some things in common. In both, pacing is critical, as it properly setting things up and knowing just how long to make the audience wait for the punchline/payoff. Also timing is really important as well.

It also helps explain why some comedy actors can make the jump to horror effectively. Robin Williams could play a REALLY convincing creepy psychopath for example. And Danny McBride was one of the best parts of Alien: Covenant imo, and he played his role surprisingly straight.

I'd be all for a winter setting, that could make for some really interesting visuals.

Ya know I’d even like a winter setting opening/prologue and then set the main film in the Summer. But they need to make it in the damn 80s.

Got my Blu Ray of Never Hike Alone today. These guys did such a fantastic job with this movie. It’s my third time seeing this and it’s just as good as the first.

Speaking of Never Hike Alone we can help back the filmmakers to direct the next Friday the 13th instalment

They’re still distributing, sure you’ll get it soon.

Hope so. USPS already messed up my Shout Factory delivery this week, claiming it delivered when I was there all day, and though the postman came, he never delivered the packages.

Amazon are bad for that over here in the UK. I think they bunk off and claim they’ve tried to deliver.

Had I ordered it from Amazon, I have an Amazon locker near by, so it's been easier. Go by and grab it when it's confirmed in the locker at your convenience. Do they have them in the UK?

Yeah we do have them, my brothers used them but I never have. We can also do click & collect when ordering from certain places so you’d go pick them up form certain stores/shops.

If it gets Jason outta legal limbo and back into theaters I dont care if it take LeBron James, Vince McMahon, or Danny DeVito to make it happen. Halloween 2018's success is the perfect time to attempt a relaunch of these franchises with Retconquels.

You'd care.
