Frozen 2

I do think the argument for Elsa not having a love interest is equally valid as seeing her as gay. And not coming from a bad place. Granted, this is probably a different kind of "not necessary" as some may be talking about. I am down for her being gay, because I think that would have an amazing impact for a lot of people. But, I also think it is okay for her to not have a romance.
If she stays away from romance, that would be perfectly fine to me as well. But that never seems to be the argument here, if that makes sense.

Personally I think she's almost too independent woman to be tied down to anybody, period. That power ballad was basically saying, "I get my rocks off alone."

Let It Go basically function as a "coming out" song. It's someone who has been repressed her entire life finally being able to be herself. But because of how she was raised, she thinks the solution is to be alone. Which the film shows is clearly not the case. The idea isn't for her to be overly independent, the idea is she needed to learn to be around those that love and accept her for who she is. Namely Anna. The film does not end with her alone, but with Anna, Olaf and an entire people who love her for who she is.

I just wish the Disney parks would get Elsa's wig color right. It always drives me crazy when they show the Disney parades on TV and Elsa's hair is white. You'd think that the studio who created her would know that Elsa's hair is not white. She's a platinum blonde.

I'm sure Disney will eventually make an animated movie starring a gay character, but that movie won't be Frozen 2. Despite what some people may believe, Disney cares about money way more than it cares about diversity and inclusion.

I honestly couldn't care less about Elsa's sexuality. But I wouldn't be surprised if they make her gay.

This. I don't mind her having a female romantic interest if it's done right, but you remember the whole scenario with the BatB remake when they announced LeFou was gay with neon signs all over social media, and it was barely noticeable in the movie itself apart from one scene (and even that one's a few seconds).

If they do it just for the sake of pandering and not because it's a good plotpoint to explore and develop, then yeah, I don't think it would work in that regard.

I don't see how it could ever be pandering when her story in the first movie resonates with so many other gay people's stories about coming to terms with who they are and coming out.

I mean, I agree that it won't happen, but if it did, what would make it pandering?

Maybe platinum blonde wigs are hard to create?

I wonder if we'll ever get a live action movie version of Frozen like Disney are doing with their other properties these days.

There was that girl who looked like a live action version of Elsa. I can't remember what her name is or if she was even an actress or just an Instagram model.

I meant in the sense of how Disney would advertise it.

Now Moana, I could see Disney giving her a girlfriend since her movie "only" made, like, half of what Frozen did at the box office and she's way less popular with the kids than Elsa and Anna.

But I doubt we're getting a Moana sequel anytime soon, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That would be completely out of the blue as there's no suggestion of her being a lesbian or even that kind of theme in the film. It would be completely random.

Maybe...but I mean, they're Disney. They got the bucks. I know it's a minor detail but to me it's a rather huge blatant mistake and I can't for the life of me figure out how the costumers think Elsa has white hair. This isn't some cheap knockoff impersonation we're talking about, it's the official Disney Princess character. To me it's as bad as making Snow White a redhead or Ariel a brunette. They should know what color Elsa's hair is for crying out loud. It ain't white.

It's not her fault that her new girlfriend had to go back to... being an island.

Yeah, cause showing physical signs of affection is only relegated to romantic partners.

What if she did get a girlfriend? Why is that wrong? Why can these films show hetero romantic pairings but not a same sex one between two legally consenting adults?

Now, let me preface, I'm not saying she has to. But people take this very personally. It's up to the creators if they want her to have a romance. And whatever decision they make, even if she goes with a male HYPOTHETICALLY, no one should harass the filmmakers over.

In the case of Moana or even Merida I get tired of the ‘strong athletic girl with no love interest, must a be lesbian’ conclusions people make. Elsa? Sure go ahead though I doubt Disney has the balls. Apart of me would also hate for kids who loved the first film but have homophobic parents to have to miss this one. In any case I’m just hoping for a great follow up with fun, memorable songs.

I agree with some of the sentiment, but I mean if we are about inclusivity and equality, shouldn't it be OK to depict this at some point?

For decades, Disney has depicted male/female romances in these films. So why can't they depict a female/female one without it triggering people? Again, if that's the direction the filmmakers want to go, I think they should be allowed.

For example, Ellie in Last of Us is LGBTQ character. If that's what the devs wanted, I don't see an issue.

I think the problem is when like you try to retroactively try to change Cap to make hi LGBTQ because fans ship him and Bucky. That's not something you can just do.

It shouldn’t be a problem, should it happen some will make it their problem, and some kids looking forward to the film will suffer for it. But there are people that still get their panties in a bunch, or shut off when a big budget film stars a person of color or a woman so it doesn’t matter cause someone is always going to be unhappy with something. Like I said before just give me a good story and songs worthy to be added to my Disney playlist.

I'd say Frozen 2's biggest challenge is getting a song that would be as much of a show stopper as Let it Go. That's a big part of what audiences are going to judge it on.

This trailer doesn't really give me much. Yeah, it's beautifully animated, but this is just basically a "Hey guys, we exist!!!!" trailer.
