Frozen 2

If Elsa does turn out to be a lesbian, she'll certainly be more interesting than Ruby Rose's Batwoman. At least Elsa will feel like a real person rather than that wooden actress who doesn't seem a very appealing character and a bit of a cardboard cutout.
This is the truest statement you have ever said Dark Raven.

Probably not. But she'd certainly be more interesting than Batwoman. If you're going to have a lesbian superhero, then the (potential) Elsa model is the way to go instead of the boring Batwoman model who seems like a walking cliche.

Are you saying have the Fall villain be an outright villain who seduces Elsa but then battles her later, or just that she's like Elsa in the first film?

I don't see them having two possible villains (Elsa being the first) who only turn out to be misunderstood and are actually good deep down. That's going to feel like a rehash of the first.

It could work out either way. I cannot really predict this accurately based on this trailer. It offers so little about the actual story line. But I think it playing out like the first one with the villain structure is likely. Seems like the Disney thing to do.

Yep this looks like it has the potential to be fantastic. I am pleased, because folks have forgotten how good the first movie is due to all the overhype and Disney merchandise that came afterward.
If it was so good, so beloved how can it be overhyped after? Because they sold merch to people who wanted it?

I love how hilariously intense the trailer is when Sven comes riding in on reindeer. The rest just looks really, really good. Looks like we might get an elemental battle. I am proper hyped, as the original Frozen is one of my favorites.

Honestly, I am all for Elsa being a lesbian, and I think if the villain is someone with Fall powers like Elsa that they have an opportunity for Elsa to get close to someone different like her and explore that type of chemistry.
She'd be more of a snack if she turned out to be a lesbian :cwink: Actually, scratch that, and just make her bi so I can still *feel* I have a chance in my fantasies with my animated crush :ilv:
Really can't see Disney making Elsa a lesbian in one of their biggest modern franchises.
I think the farthest Disney would go with that is make Elsa and whoever female she pairs with be BFFs.

Was Else really even considered a villain in the first film? She seemed more like misunderstood hero to me, with the outright actual villain being Hans.

I like how serious the teaser was.

Think I might actually go and see this in the theaters which I didn't do since Princess and the Frog.

Elsa is Gay Jesus. She literally walks on water.

The animation here looks ridiculous. It's like Moana, pushed to 11.

She was originally intended as a villain but then after "Let it Go" was written, they were forced to rewrite her because they felt she was just misunderstood and afraid. It was the song that made the film and influenced the plot.

I don't know if they'll have something as significant and influential in this film as that song that would change things so dramatically.

That was the intent sure, but that was not what we got, so I didn't really considered her a villain at all.

The animation they have shown already is freakin insane. That opening sequence is such a triumph of animation. I love the little detail of how the ice spots drift off after she steps off them. Add in the beautiful look of fall, it is going to be the best looking the Pixar style animation has been in a long while.

Yes.There were quite a few rewrites, and it happened relatively late in production.

There's also a bit of concept art floating around of evil Elsa and a few different designs as well. One of them has her with black spiky hair instead of beautiful blonde tresses.

It's almost like they waited until the FX were ready before rushing out a teaser that gets mocked by everyone.

Aren't they like half a year apart? I don't see how they can't both make all the money.

People will forfeit going to the theatres for Endgame so they can wait for Frozen 2. :o

Meaning top grossing film of the year.

I know we’re on a Superhero board and that’s faux pas, I guess.

This’ll make all the money.

Sorry Endgame.

The first one made $1.3B. Infinity War made over $2B. I don't see Frozen picking up 50% to the first one and Infinity War dropping from the first.

Even domestic for North America, Frozen made $400M vs IW $700M.

The scary thing is. Frozen is like 9 months away. Aladdin is 3 and 1/2 months away. So we are looking at pretty close to done effects in the Aladdin trailer. Frozen 2 will get plenty of more work, even on the trailer prepped scenes.

Star Wars is the wildcard this year coming off of TLJ and Solo. So the top spot is probably a two way battle with The Lion King and Endgame, with both Frozen 2 and IX being potential spoilers.

To be fair, Frozen 2 has had almost 5 years, even though it probably does require more FX since it's full animation, whereas Aladdin's biggest effect is the Genie. That being said, yeah, Genie looks like crap.

If IW hadn't hit $2B, I would say it's a tight race. But IW is going to be the champ at this point. I think Lion King, Frozen 2, and probably Toy Story 4 will be in the $1.3-$1.5B range. Star Wars is a wild card. The Last Jedi made $1.3B. vs Force Awakens at $2B. I'm sure there are multiple reasons for that large a drop, but it's not encouraging for the next one. Hopefully IW doesn't follow suit.

Animation work did not start in 2014 for Frozen 2. It went into production in early 2015, with story concepts and such. They were only coming up with the idea. Now it would be fair to say that animation studios like Pixar and Disney Animation are constantly working on quality animation, from film to film.

I think Star Wars getting so much other material, including a theme park land in both Disney US parks, could be a big boost. We will see.

I think The Lion King could do anything. It is the most popular Disney Renaissance film, has a significant cultural aspect, and will play well everywhere, including China. If you told me The Lion Kind did 2 bil, I wouldn't bat an eye.
