Frozen 2

If anyone remembers, Let It Go wasn't written to be the major song for Frozen. It was supposed to be For the First Time in Forever.

All three are Let it Go clones. Into... is just the one where Idina screams the most, or, you know, she is the one singing.

But all three are big epiphanic songs about facing something, ending up in self afirmation and displays of strenght. And in that sense, they are all very much Let it Go clones... or brothers at least. Into... is just the most obvious one formally.
Let it Go like its inspiration Defying Gravity isn't simply a song about self affirmation and displays of strength. They are the ultimate, "**** you haters" song. But in both Wicked and Frozen there is a lot of pumped up bravado in the content, which is why the stories go the way they do. Basically, Jerry Maguire getting fired. That does not define any song on the Frozen II. Into the Unknown is similar in style, but not substance.

1. All is Found: Nothing like Let it Go.
2. Some Things Never Change: "For the First Time in Forever" adjacent.
3. Into the Unknown: Let it Go adjunct, but I'd also say cleverly its own thing.
4. When I am Older: In Summer Mach 2.
5. Lost in the Woods: The furthest thing from Let it Go, and arguably the furthest thing from Frozen music so far.
6. Show Yourself: Like with Let if Go, this is heavily taken from Wicked, and in the process it makes it rather simple to know what to compare it to. Let It Go is Defying Gravity. Not just the ending, but the overall piece. What this sounds like is For Good, with a bit more meat on the end.
7. The Next Right Thing: Much like how Elsa is clearly Elphaba, Anna is Glinda. This song reflects it. It's basically Finale from Wicked turned into a full on song, with the big dose of doubt, regret and sorrow.

This is true. Which is hilarious, because Anna is clearly the "main lead" and it is mostly her story. I would also say, it is the best song from the first film, though Do You Want to Build a Snowman is close.

Gad annoys the hell out of me as well, but I love Olaf. His innocence gets me.

Also what was in front of Coco was no short. It was a complete tv holiday special they forced you to sit through to see a real movie. :o

Josh Gad grates on my nerves UNLESS he is playing Olaf in Frozen, or Chuck in Angry Birds. Those 2 films were my guilty pleasure films of the last few years.

Personally, I'm one of the parents who will be going to see Frozen 2. I found the first one to be insanely overrated. Coming off of "Tangled", which is about a million times better, it was disappointing. However, I had a daughter who was 4 or 5 at the time, and I can out-sing ALL OF YOU when it comes to the Frozen soundtrack, which my daughter will recall painfully. I won her a gift card because I knew all of the lyrics to "Let it Go" over a dozen moms in the room. HA! Gift card won, daughter humiliated.

Ahem.

That being said, I hope it'll be good. My daughter is now 11, and in middle school. She had no interest until she saw the preview, and it rekindled a little magic for her. She wants to see it, and this may be one of the last Disney films I get to take her to before she rolls her eyes and stares zombie-like into the face of a smartphone forever. Hopefully, there is plenty of Olaf, Sven, and Kristoff. If there are just girls singing, my son will find a million reasons to need to "go to the bathroom". He's never into girl stuff. We had to almost Clockwork Orange the little guy to get him to watch Wonder Woman in the theater. I was the same way, though.

I'm sure I had a point. Whatever. I hope it doesn't suck because it means I'll just regret spending the money for 4 tickets, as opposed to being happy about it. I don't expect Endgame, Far From Home, or even Spider-Verse levels of joy for me, but if my daughter enjoys it, then I'm good.

Basically they're making it slightly darker and edgier because those kids that watched the first have grown up some.

At the end, the villain is going to kill some innocent people of Erandale, and Elsa snaps his neck. The audience will love it.

Also the rest of the post is a lot to unpack. :funny:

Yeah it works better for me because it feels more like a Broadway style song than Frozen does.

You’re both wrong. Moana was better than both of them.

I’m Team Tangled. Moana was sooo boring (good songs, though: better than Frozen).

Tangled had it all...including a big song in a bar. Also, FAR better action, and an actual villain. Also, Eugene/Flynn Rider. Voiced by Chuck. All win, all the time.

I like Moana for all the wrong reasons. Mainly the Rock. Maui brought some serious fun to it, and the scene with the grandmother gets me every time.

Can someone who's already seen the movie clarify two things I just saw on Wikipedia:

Apparently, Hans shows up for more trouble? I didn't even know they were bridging him back! Also, Anna has powers, too, later on? WTF? Is this real or is it fake like what happened with the initial Once Upon a time in Hollywood where someone faked the climax by saying Manson shows up and gets killed after a big showdown?

Very, very fake. Obviously someone edited that in to fool people.

Hans makes a cameo of sorts when Elsa is conjuring up snow-like visions of the events in the first movie. She takes one look at his ice statue talking to Anna and non-chalantly breaks it apart. That's basically it for his appearance.

As for Anna, no, she doesn't have powers.

Figured. It's probably the same guy who posted the fake Tarantino spoiler. Looks like it's been turned back into the normal non-spoiler synopsis. Thanks!

Moana is better then Tangled but it couldn't possibly be better then Frozen simply do to the abandonment of the adorable piggy, for that crappy chicken or the Rock's "singing".

I always find the critique that Frozen is overrated interesting. Especially when it is accompanied by how a movie with a more prominent male character is better. But considering your your original post on this subject, makes sense.

The depth of Frozen blows Tangled away. It honestly blows away all of the Disney canon in that regard. It's themes and general critique of the Disney princesses genre itself makes it far more interesting and complex then something like Tangled, which is tropes city with the usual to say. It is not Little Mermaid bad in terms of messaging, but it ain't much better. That Frozen also has far superior characters, music and animation just makes it more obvious imo. Not that I don't like Tangled. I do. I really like Moana too. But much like how I like Batman 89 and Returns, that doesn't suddenly make them the quality of The Dark Knight.
