That would be rehashing the first film, and hopefully the directors came up with something different but fitting. Maybe the sequel will use more elements from the original "Snow Queen", especially as Frozen was 'inspired by' the original story. Something like the troll-mirror and the robbers would be good fodder for a sequel, without retreading familiar territory.

Sure, the directors are getting a nice paycheck for the sequel... but I don't think Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee would do this if they didn't have something worth exploring. Disney wants to exploit their big property, but they've learned their lesson from the past. They're treading carefully with the 'feature animated film sequel', because they haven't done it much and they want to avoid the pitfalls that befell their rivals at DWA, Blue Sky and Illumination.

So "Elsa having a cold" make her drunk apparently, interesting? So ideas for a sequel:

-More Elsa/Anna interactions-They were apart, either physically, emotionally, or both for most of the first film. It worked well for that story. But given how they had reconciled by the end, I want to see them interaction much more this time around, be "a team" basically.

-Elsa/Kristoff scenes-Those two didn't really interact at all in the first film.

-No "Anna getting powers" plot-That'd just be cliché and predictable. If you want to introduce a new character who has powers, then fine.

-No love interest for Elsa-Unless you have a REALLY good story for it. I really liked that they didn't even try to pair her up with someone in the first film (Hans even explicitly ruled in out). Plus we've got Anna/Kristoff to fill the "romance" quota.

-An external threat-As opposed to a problem that Elsa caused herself.

-A Frozen/Tangled crossover-Ok that might be better suited for Frozen 3 or something.

Elsa will very likely have a love interest, or maybe an arranged marriage. Very few monarchs in the 1800s never married. As the Queen it's part of her job to marry and have children to continue the lineage and to marry off for political alliances.

Sooner or later she's going to need to get married. Not fall in love necessarily, but marry and have children. Of course, this is Disney and they can keep her single forever if they want to, but that would be very unusual for the time period and place.

^You're ok. Since we're talking about a short, I actually had to look up whether or not Disney had put it online myself, so it seems like an easy mistake to make. We should always check on these things before posting them, however.

Also, I really enjoyed Frozen Fever. It was adorable.

Yeah, I was thinking 2018-ish as well. It's not TOO far away, but it does give them some time to really iron out the script. Also releasing it in winter just makes sense on a meta-level as well.

Yeah, Lasseter seems to have this deep love for anything Cars-related.

And sadly it's only really paid off with Cars Land. The less said about the films, the better. Cars Land though is amazing, even as someone who really dislikes the films.

I made mention of this, but it's one thing to make sequels. It's a business.

But my GOD, Pixar, spread them out a litte. AGAIN..it's sequels one after another, after the complains we had of having Monsters U and Cars 2 back to back. Sneak in more original stuff in-between. Plan it out better.

I don't begrudge Pixar too much, as it is likely what helps with funding the greats. And Cars is about the only real blemish on their records.

And yes, a lot of sequels there. But Incredibles 2 has a date, so shut up.

Disney's slate looks great, though.

Well the reality is that they're kinda slumming it until Inside Out and The Good Dino. For the past few years, Disney Animation has dominated, and I think its due to a shift of focus.

DreamWorks has been doing pretty well to. And I actually kind of liked the first Cars movie. It certainly wasn't one of their best films, but I found it to be enjoyable enough. But it REALLY didn't need/warrant a sequel, let alone an entire franchise built around it.

Dreamworks is actually in a bad state. Home was their own big hit in a while (but critically wasn't well received). Only Dragons seems to have made any impact and the sequel disappointed in the US box office.
