FullScreen VS WideScreen?

Widescreen and trying to explain it too non geeks is quite a chore. :o

I remember seeing Hellboy once on fullscreen. It looked as if all the heads were about to be squished.

Widescreen all the way.

When i first started buying dvds i used to get Fullscreen But now I always get Widecreen if possible. I only get Fullscreen if theres no Widescren left.

If there's no widescreen left, I WAIT until there is. I under no circumstances will accept a film that has had half of its image cut off. Fullscreen is not acceptable in the least.

I remember Empire Strikes Back demonstrates a great example of widescreen's clear advantage. During the scene when Vader is pursuing the Falcon through the asteroid belt, an asteroid hits another Star Destroyer. You see the Captain in a holigram in the background on Vader's ship, and you see him react to his ship being hit and then his holigram disappears.

I mean if it's just a comedy i don't care. But if its a action movie i check a few places first.

I might pick up that Frank Capra collection. It looks pretty cool, and there will never be a widescreen version of it

So are you saying that the directors of movies that came out before the widescreen format was invented didn't give a **** about movies?

They mean Fullscreen in the context of cutting off original picture. Since the older movies were originally shot in a box-shaped format, I doubt they qualify under the modern definition of "Fullscreen".

yeah thats the only time i might buy a fullscreen...
...but only if the widescreen is not available.

comedy's usually dont use the widescreen to its "potential"...its usually kept in the middle of the screen... along with non-asian horror movies too.

I know, some people, despite everything you tell them, just won't accept the fact that you see more with widescreen.

That's very true.

But if someone buys fullscreen instead of widescreen, it doesn't affect my viewing habits

I use to buy nothing but fullscreen, but now I ONLY buy widescreen.

I use to be one of those ''GOD DAMN THE BLACK BARS." and ''YOU CAN'T SEE AS MUCH" people. Boy, was I wrong.

I agree with everything you said

Widescreen only..So I can watch it on a widescreen TV,people go to the theater and it's in widescreen, can't see why you wouldn't want that at home.

Exactly!

I buy Widescreen DVDs only.

I hate fullscreen. I used to be annoyed by the widescreen formatback then until I realized how much were missing without the black bars. So, it's definitely widescreen for me, or fullscreen if it's the original aspect ratio.

Cropping widescreen into fullscreen = :down x a billion.

Although with T2, you get stuff cut off in either the fullscreen or widescreen formats

Yeah, with T2 the super 35 cuts off the top and bottom a little. And The Pan and Scan cuts off the sides but adds some picture to the top and bottom.

It depends on the size of your t.v. For some reason my mom always buys me dvd's that are full screen instead of widescreen.

i dont mind widescreen movie but i prefer fullscreen it alays looks like widescreen is wasting space maybe thats just me:ninja:

Neither. I favor the original aspect ratio. Was it wide or full, it has to be the original. But in general, I like wide more.

Widescreen, widescreen, widescreen.

Anything else is just stupid.

Star wars is the worst to watch in full screen :o

"I was pissed when someone got me widescreen"

"I ask the gift giver for the receipt"

Wow how lame are you? thank your self lucky you get anything at all!
