These guys have never let you down, and you trust them completely to put out games you know you'll love. You put so much faith in them you would have no problem buying their next game day one, sight unseen, with no information.

So, who are they?

Naughty Dog

Bungie
Treyarch
Rockstar
Valve

I would say Bioware...but dat ME3 ending man. I don't know, hopefully they can regain my faith with the next Mass Effect game.

I'm hoping to add 343 to that list later this year also. I already have some faith in them since they made better multiplayer maps for Halo: Reach than Bungie did.

For me it's just Valve, Rockstar, and KojiPro at this point. Vigil and Rocksteady are in the running, but I feel like they haven't put out enough games just yet.

Bioware used to be, but they've had way too many misfires in the past few years. Bethesda really disappointed me with Oblivion, but after Fallout 3 and Skyrim they're working their way back in my good graces.

Bungie

Bio ware

High Moon (recently added due to the love and care they gave Transformers)

Kojima

Bethesda

343

Valve is a developer i have zero faith in, in terms of delivering a game that I would like. Enough people say they are good so i just have to believe them, but iv hated every Valve game iv played(granted i never did play Half Life). Absolutely can not stand the Left 4 Dead series. Not a fan of Team Fortress, Portal is neat but iv had no desire to play it outside of the demo.

I do like Steam tho.

If the Deadpool game turns out good, i would add them to my list as well. Every High Moon title iv played, minus Dark of the Moon, iv really enjoyed.

Yep. Sometimes you just have to accept that there are good games, great ones even, out there that just aren't for you. Happened to me recently with The Witcher II. On paper it should have been right up my alley. As I played it, I could see that it was clearly a very good game. It had all the elements that I like, but for one reason or another it just didn't grab me.

Gave that a second shot did you?

Yeah, I just couldn't get into either Witcher game despite the several hours I put into both of them. Weird thing because I could not at all say why. I'm hoping the new Cyberpunk game will hook me since I'm well into sci-fi so maybe that might be more up my alley.

It's strange isn't it? Whatever put me off of that game is completely ellusive. The gameplay was fun. The graphics and sound were great. Fantastic voice acting. What I saw of the story seemed fine. For a while I thought it was because I didn't care about "the world". One of my absolute most favorite things about games is getting really immersed in a world and its fiction and being able to explore and discover it. Unfortunately that's something The Witcher didn't very well in my opinion. But that can't be the reason, because there are tons of games I have blast playing where I couldn't care less about the world. Oh well!

This one's easy for me. Rockstar games. I'd love to see them take a crack at a Superman game. Of course, after seeing what Rocksteady has done with the Batman Arkham titles, I'd be thrilled to see them have a go at Supes as well.

Studios that have never let me down: Ubisoft, Rockstar, Volition, Turn 10, Irrational.

I want to say SEGA. I really do. But they just aren't the same as they were in the Genesis/Dreamcast era..

Hmmm. I'll say Kojima, Capcom and Rocksteady.

You always come up with such good ideas for topics, Soap! This is a damn fine one indeed.

I'll be honest and say I don't pay as much attention to developers and the behind-the-scenes stuff in the video game industry as a lot of gamers tend to do. I have one friend in particular who will rave or rant about one company or the other, and I usually have zero idea what he's talking about. That said, with my limited knowledge, I'd say Rockstar and Bethesda. I've yet to play a game from either that's let me down.

When I say 'Rockstar' I mean the games they themselves make, not things like L.A Noire which they've just slapped their name on after the fact...if I'm properly understanding how that works.

Naughty Dog - ND were the first developer that I ever bought a game from because it was made by them. It was Jak & Daxter (one of my all-time favorites) and I'd been following it ever since I'd heard 'from the makers of Crash Bandicoot'. Since then they've made this generation's best trilogy and are making a game that, to quote one critic "looks so far ahead of anything else that's coming out it's not even funny".

Criterion - Criterion just don't have the term 'half-arsed' in them. They pour 100% into absolutely everything they do, be it visuals, social features, or, heck, even ports to handhelds. The generous helpings of free DLC in Burnout Paradise and invention of Autolog are just two examples of what they do for gamers and the industry.

thatgamecompany - I was on board with tgc ever since fl0w, but then they really surprised me with Flower, which is still very much the best game on PSN for my money. I spent an agonizing amount of time waiting for Journey and it didn't disappoint. These guys get it.

Retro Studios - Retro earned a rock-solid place on this list just through Metroid Prime alone. A perfect realisation of Samus' adventures in glorious 3D, they went on to make two great sequels and then one of the generation's best platformers in Donkey Kong Country Returns. No matter how rubbish the Wii U currently looks, it'll be these guys that get me to buy that system.

The only one that I have absolute faith in is Naughty Dog.

They have done so many great things throughtout the years and their old Crash Bandicoot games still remain great, classic games with graphics that even still hold up pretty good, with awesome levels, bosses etc.

I haven't played the Jak & Dexter games so I'll skip that period.

Then they made the Uncharted games which are all absolutely great! And now they're developing this The Last Of Us which, while maybe a little too much like Uncharted, looks like another awesome game!

They put so much heart in everything they do!

After Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, I would've liked to mention Rocksteady as well but they still need to put out some more quality stuff to make me have absolute faith in them. Another quality Batman game and then something entirely else that's awesome as well and I will add them in the list.

Kojima
Naughty Dog
Rocksteady
thatgamecompany
Team Ico
