Well as far as season 1 goes I'm looking forward to sky cells and the tournament at Kings Landing mostly.

Do any of the characters have any supernatural powers or are the people just regular humans?
There is Lady Melisandre. She has prophetic powers and is a shadow-binder. she can control shadows. She does this once to kill someone. She doesn't come into play until later on in the series though.
But other than the Others and Dragons, there's really nothing too extraordinary when it comes to magic.
It left the world after the Doom of Vallyria, which isn't really described into detail yet.

The Battle of King's Landing, the fight with the Other with Sam, The sacking of Astapor. So many amazing scenes that NEED to be filmed!
Wait...how many episodes is this into?
And where can I watch it besides on cable?

And if Dinklage doesn’t get an Emmy for his clever, rude Tyrion Lannister, I’ll be gobsmacked.

Can you imagine how people are gonna freak when you know who dies towards the end of the first book? Not to mention all the other important deaths.
Yet lazy bastards won't crack a book open.
It's a a shame since the books are really good, also I don't read a lot of fantasy books and I think this is one of the best in that genre. Oh and I caved in and watched the first 14 minutes of the show, is it just me or did [BLACKOUT]the Other[/BLACKOUT] in the prologue acts similar to Predator?
No you're not the only one. What's funny as when I read the books that's kind of what I pictured them to be like but more of the Predators in their stealth mode with the glowing eyes. But the way they are in the prologue of the show kind of leaves them room to be tweaked a bit in their design by the time they show back up. Like adding armor and stuff like that.
And with all the glowing reviews come a few negative ones including this piece of garbage from the NY Times. Apparently if you're a chick you're not allowed to like this fantasy 'boy' stuff.

Technically, the author does recommend watching the series, but in a very smug and *****ey (if it was a guy writing it) way.
