HBO was free this weekend (probably promoting the show) so I caught the first episode. I enjoyed it. The cliffhanger ending left me on the edge of my set. I haven't read the books because I want to watch this show without knowing any spoilers.

The pilot was almost exactly like the book if I remember correctly. It was awesome, great casting and performances. Cant wait for the rest of the season

I thought Harry Lloyd as Viserys was awesome as well. The way he plays him works out better than that character is written in the books I think.

Anyway, that was as good as I could have imagined. They got the tone right, which was my biggest worry from the start, so all around I was very pleased

Cersei is a bit too soft IMO...hopefully as the story progresses that changes (ive read all the books so I have my own picture of how Cersei should be)

Finally saw the premiere. Almost everything is exactly how I imagined it, except for maybe Catelyn. I imagined her looking far younger. I had Kelly MacDonald in mind when I read it.
Loved the opening sequence, and the zoom over to Pentos. Now I wonder who they're going to cast for Brienne. She's supposed to be ugly... and that's kinda hard to do for such an important character for a tv series. Maybe bump her up to being just average?

I meant character wise...Lena looks the part, Cately is terribly miscast...she looks haggard

They aged up Catelyn because they aged up her children.
