Game of Thrones

EW has 4 million watched over the entire night (and no numbers for last night yet). Not bad. It's not Boardwalk Empire but that was the highest rated premier HBO has ever had (5-6million). BTW BE had a 50% drop in the second week and a steady decline after that. Lets hope GOT sustains at least 75% of it's audience.

Ha, I missed the BE premier(recorded it) but watched ever episode live after that.

Didn't know it did better than the Sopranos though.

EW reports Season 2 is a go! We will see Stannis, Melisandre, Davos, Brienne, and bigger Direwolves. Plus the actress playing Arya better get ready to go through the ringer.

I should clairify that's a series primere rating. True Blood gets 5-6 million on a regular basis for their primeres and the highest ratings HBO has ever had was for the Sopranos finale around 11-12 million.

Season 2 is renewed!!

http://www.tvline.com/2011/04/ratings-game-of-thrones-down-but-not-out/

Sunday’s opener averaged a so-so 2.2 million viewers — or less than half of the 4.8 million that turned out for Boardwalk Empire‘s debut last fall. But when you factor in the 2 million viewers that caught one of the two encore telecasts on Sunday Game‘s cumulative viewer tally jumps to a much healthier 4.2 million. It’s also worth noting that three years ago True Blood bowed to a deadly 1.44 million viewers only to evolve into a monster hit for HBO.

I heard that Hulu has the first episode of Game of Throne up in their site, but I checked and could only have previews and stuff. Is there another place to find ep 1 online?

Walder Frey is going to be in the current season played by Filch from the Harry Potter movies.

There is no House I hate more than The Freys. Even long before The Red Wedding everything Walder and his kid did pissed me off. Even the kids who went up to Winterfell.

Don't forget the [BLACKOUT]Boltons[/BLACKOUT] had a hand in that certain event too. Plus they're discussting.

And a certain guy from a family across the sea who grew up at Winterfell but then returned to sack it.

They never even mention him. He's there, but they never say his name or anything.

And you guys were right, it was crastor. been awhile since I read the books.

Great new on the S2 renewal!! I just hope they maintain their premiere ratings pretty well.

HBO shows are so damn cinematic its amazing. Especially this show and boardwalk empire.

Hi,

Saw it yesterday and liked it, the intro is really well done.

Small question : which kingdom the elvish looking guy is trying to take back and why him and his sister are in exile.

They were brother to the previous king of the 7 kingdoms where the rest of the story takes place and Robert Baratheon is the current king. Their brother Rhaegar is who Robert killed to become king and Viserys (spelling) and Daenarys escaped as children.

I watched this yesterday. I like that they pulled dialogue right from the books. Some of the characters aren't quite how a pictured, especially age wise but I think I'll be able to get over that.

I really thought he was going to be a good guy and fight on for the Starks. But he turned out to be a big *****e.

I loved the premiere episode. I also liked the starting but found the whole gear imagery strange and out of place. I don't like the actor for Jon Snow, he doesn't look like I had imagined him. Unlike most of the other actor/characters match-ups.

I can't wait until all hell breaks loose.

Actually they are the son and daughter of the slain king. I don't know how much they are going to deleve into the backstory but in short it goes like this: Spoilers in case you don't want to know.

Robert started a rebellion against King Areys (the "elvish looking" guy's dad). Ned was instrumental in helping Robert defeat King Areys. Rhaegar is the older brother to Viserys and Dany (the "elvish looking" siblings), and Robert slew him in a big battle before they stormed the capital (King's Landing). Before Ned gets to the Throne room of the capital Jaime Lannister (a memeber of the King's guard) kills the King. Therefore getting the name 'Kingslayer'. Robert pardons Jaime for doing this and marries Cersi to unite the two great houses they are from. It's also alluded to but not explained in the first episode that Rhaegar and Robert loved the same woman, Ned's Sister, who was featured in the crypts.

Ask a small question? There are no small questions in this series, that's how deep it is.

Hi

Thanks for the explanations, since I didn't read the books some stuff is escaping me.

PS : I didn't read the spoiler, this show appears to good to be spoiled :)

It's not really spoilers, it's more backstory that they don't explain until later.
And you don't need to put "hi" before every post...

Yeah spoilers on this show can be crucial to your enjoyment of it. I would encourage others here to use spoiler tags when bringing up plot points in the books.

No, what really hurt me personally was how they treated Hodor. Totally in the spirit of the books, but come on, they were pretty messed up. I'm glad his sister constantly puts him in his place.

Finally caught the first ep.

It's about time Hbo put out some quality new programming.

The first 5 minutes and the final scene =

Oh, btw the dialogue where the guy tells his sister, he'd let all 40,000 guys screw her was quite disturbing. :csad:
