I'm so jealous because I would really like to try eating lemoncakes. Anyway let us know how the food taste like.

From watching the video you can see that it's not all totally from the books but just inspired by. Tom said that since the guys at the wall lived near the sea they would have seafood, makes sense, but I remember them eating a lot more. I'm sure it'll all be great though.

Of course, it's going to be the best show between them. :awesome::o

And that clip is tempting but I won't bother, but I'm sure Addy is going to be great as Robert.

Addy's good but Bean makes the clip.
Just the way he says a certain person's "mother's" name is great.
Oh and Thrones will destroy Camelot and Borgias.

I dunno, sure Thrones is based on great material and has a great cast, but Starz really proved themselves capable with Spartacus, a show that was easily on par with Rome- one of HBOs best. Showtime has been no so slouch either, putting out a variety of decent shows that while they haven't quite matched HBOs level yet with hourlong dramas, they certainly have with comedies. I look forward to all 3 of these series.. they all have a great cast, and they are all on a network with potential to deliver fantastic shows.

I've never read these books but have only heard great things. The trailers look FANTASTIC. I'll definitely be checking this out.

So.... what's the deal with this?

Oh man, I'm still reading the first book (almost 3/4 of the way through), but it's gotten soooo amazing! That 15-minute preview was perfect. I can safely say I haven't been this excited about a new TV show in years.

I watched the pilot of Camelot too, and there's no way it will hold a candle to this. IMO, Spartacus wasn't nearly on HBO's level, either. Rome was tops when it comes to that era (contemporary shows, of course. I, Claudius is not forgotten). The only great show Starz has produced so far was Party Down, imo.

And I even like the 'Predator' Others...
Welcome all newbies to this. Do yourself a favor and read these books. They're better than LOTR, no lie.

Camelot definitely sucked pretty hard.. Spartacus started even worse, but the last 6 or so episodes were easily as great as Rome. Party Down was indeed great. I read **** things about Borgias too, so it looks like GoT is indeed the clear winner here.

The Borgias is excellent (I even created a thread for it ;) ), but it will be a slow build show like Boardwalk Empire. The first two episodes lay the groundwork for an excellent series, but being set in Vatican City gives it a bit of stiffness. Game of Thrones will be uninhibited in that regard, but I think if you liked Rome and/or The Tudors, The Borgias shows a lot of potential to grow into one of those. Camelot is a step above Spartacus in class, so maybe it can be addictive, but it is a very weak start.

With that said the first fifteen minutes of Game of Thrones online were fantastic. Better than two hours of Camelot or two hours of Borgias. It will probably surpass Boardwalk Empire for the best pilot of the year, if it maintains that quality for the whole hour.

The second this show shows a prettyboy main(:ish) character or a stupid love story (or for that mater - meaningless sex and violence) that we've seen a gazillion times before.... then I'm out.

I hope to gods this is a serious fantasy show for adults.

That's exactly what it is. You'd be very hard-pressed to find a more adult fantasy story than this, imo. The only pretty-boys in this story are a**holes (or worse). And with all the characters and intricate storylines, I have yet to come across anything approaching an angsty romance in the book.
