Have you ever been involved in a romantic relationship with someone you first met online?

Quite a few years ago, I was pen pals with this girl online. She lived in Pennsylvania and we talked pretty much platonically for like 2 years. I'd confide in her about women I dated and she vice versa. So, she came by with a few friends and things "clicked" with us and we dated for a while, but of course the distance got the best of us. However, we still talk every once and while.

I don't understand why people think its so odd. Meeting someone online is not much different than meeting someone in a bar. You don't really know them, but something interests you to get to know them. Either one could be a serial killer, and either could misrepresent themselves.

'Online relationships' are different from meeting someone online, imo. But just using the interwebs as a venue to meet new people doesn't strike me as strange at all.

That is always a possibility, but the chances are greater online, because they can make up any thing and make it believable if they know their facts.

Though I do think it would be a great way to meet people you have stuff in common with.

Met someone in a chat back in college who went to the same campus, so it technically wasn't as bizzare as meeting someone halfway across the world. We went out a few times, that's all.
