Good news for this movie. Looks like it's gonna exceed the expectations a lot of us had. People love their dinosaurs. But I do want to see what 2nd weekend drop looks like.

Now, can we stop this "dinosaurs suck and no one cares" meta narrative now? These movies keep making money precisely because people like dinosaurs. Stop making this a plot point. It worked in Jurassic World as there was a message in there about commercialism and such, but we keep doing it several movies later and it needs to stop.

I mean, this is absolutely true. But Jurassic World Rebirth is hardly the evidence of it, lol! This is like...a fine movie that's meh at worst. Not even close to the worst thing this franchise ever did

Rebirth isn't even the worst movie to be a huge hit this year.

As expected, it’s doing well, but not nearly as well as its predecessors. This will be the first World movie not to hit a billion.

This is the first movie I've seen in a theater since Mission Impossible/Final Destination (I watched those back to back), and this film was just so underwhelming. Nothing stood out.

I do think trying to compare the FSS of Rebirth to that of the other movies, most which opened in a traditional 3 day weekend, is trying to force a narrative. Its one of those things like where a weekend comes up short of expectations due to various other circumstances, but then rebound afterwards. Its one of the reasons why holiday openings can screw up traditional weekend openings.

Domestic numbers I do agree, were going to take a hit. Though, with the trajectory this weekend, it seems likely that it won't fall too badly from Dominion's domestic, which is a win, lets be honest with where Dominion left things. International is always where it was going to make the bulk of its money. And things are looking pretty rosy on that front. International is also where I believe that the other big July movies will run into problems.

I just saw this tonight, late to the party. It's not good. If I'm being very kind I'll say it was OK but considering a movie ticket plus some snacks/drink is a 35-40 dollars invested, I feel like I need to lower my own bar of what I expect from movies. Coming out saying "Yeah it was OK and had a few entertaining scenes" is not enough because realistically if I caught this on TV or streaming I would have turned off and done something else.

The candy wrapper being the downfall of this great research station and the whole island has to be the dumbest plot point I've seen in years, maybe even a decade in a big budget blockbuster. That is some insane lazy ****.

Aside from the dad I did not care for any of the sailboat people and even though the boyfriend did grow slightly, he started off so insanely unlikeable that even though he got better it was still annoying.

Can we be done with these stupid scenes of characters not seeing or hearing a big dinosaur a few feet away from them? The woman at the beach did not notice a huge Spinosaurus next to her. The black guy climbing did not notice a huge bird dinosaur swooping by just behind him. The girl at the gas station does not notice a huge bird coming through the roof and landing next to her? Dr Loomis does not notice the Xenomorph Rex just a few feet behind him after shooting out the flare. This is the franchise that established T-Rex walking causing a minor earthquake and now characters won't notice one right behind them.

No shade on Rupert Friend but I am so done with these movies doing this stereotypical evil suit guy who will clearly turn on everybody as soon as they get a chance because of "the mission". I love Burke as much as anyone but I'm so tired of these modern movies being made by people who saw Aliens as a kid and figured we need a Burke in all these movies. Can we for once have that character go a different route?

Some of the action was fine. Still crazy how these movies can't hit the set piece level set by the original or even parts of TLW and JP3 (the trailer at the cliff, the bird cage) and in this movie the boat sequence was probably the best and sadly the first big one. Nothing after really hit that level.

The only real redeeming part of this movie for me was Jonathan Bailey as Dr Loomis. With these movies the script is so basic and the characters are so vanilla that it's really up to the actors if any magic is going to happen at all and for me Jonathan Bailey had a couple of scenes where his minor decisions as an actor shone through as "Hey that's a nice moment". Like when he almost falls while climbing down the mountain he has an awkward laugh reaction that to me felt genuine, and was probably more 'matter of fact' in the script.

I think Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali were fine but their characters didn't really have anything interesting to them and I think I give them a pass because I enjoy seeing them and even at their worst they can be likeable. If you compare the main duo of this to Jurassic World I would say Scarlett Johansson and Chris Pratt are kinda two sides of the same coin (adventure character who can do everything and has a classic Harrison Ford wink in their eye) but Jonathan Bailey definitely did more to stand out over Bryce Dallas Howard.

While I thought the movie was just OK, my question is where do they go from here? What's left to do? You could've easily made two movies out of this one by having one story focus on a special forces group trying to recover a macguffin, and the other about a family trying to survive after accidentally stumbling onto the island.

Someone weaponizing a viral strain from the dinosaurs to use as a bioweapon in some secret facility somewhere would be the next kind of idea, but that almost sounds like the plot of Dino Crisis.

I feel like as a throwback, simple adventure blockbuster, this works OK. There was definitely a ton of homage to early Spielberg and obviously Jaws going on. The 35mm complimented that vibe, and the Edwards did a great job staging the dino sequences. Definitely the best the effects in this franchise have looked in a long time.

I guess in principal, I don't mind the idea of them just cranking these out every few years as standalone adventures to give us our dino fix. But at the same time it did feel a bit weird to have the previous Jurassic World trilogy conclude and then come back with essentially another standard sequel.

I certainly didn't hate it but I do wish I could say it was better. But I guess a movie like this was kind of necessary to walk back the "dinos living amongst humans" of it all which can only get progressively silly and over the top.

I didn't think it was amazing or anything, but most offensive movie that makes you question existence? Nah. That was The Predator

It's Called Jurassic World, have a planet of the apes like World in which Dinosaurs have over taken humanity they developed into intelligent creatures. Let's see the Dinos in control around the globe just like Ian Malcolm expressed.
