Was it by any chance the gas station scene that was more of a blatant copy of the kitchen scene from the original than an homage?Just saw it, and my short summary:
Action sequences mostly well done. I didn't like 1, but it's cause it felt like a retread of previous one in earlier movie. Only worse. Story was fine, characters mostly trash. Just nothing to anyone. I like Ali and Scarjo enough as actors, but generic characters and that goes for everyone. Several characters very unlikable to hilarious degrees.
In the end, it's okay. Not great. Not awful. It exists.
2.5/5

Sounds Good. or, at least,The stuff with Manuel Garcia-Ruflo and his family was pretty bad and the script is honestly pretty weak overall but man I had a pretty good time with this for the most part and while it ain't saying much I also thought it was much better than Dominion.
Edwards was definitely the right man for the job despite his shortcomings in other areas because the dino stuff is some of the best we've gotten in this franchise in a while and I loved that they actually felt like threats again and not dumb cartoon characters.
Scarlet, Marhershala and Baily were a really solid, likable trio and I wish the movie focused more on them and their group but sadly that just isn't the case but I wouldn't mind seeing them come back in the future.
The mutant/hybrid dino element felt pretty pointless to me though especially when you get to the so called main Xenomorph dino but I guess Edwards just wanted to do something different than the previous movies.
The three big dino set pieces are a lot of fun though but I still wish they did more with the Mosasaur in these movies.
Also, I was surprised at how effective and fairly gruesome some of the death scenes are which felt very much in tone with the first two movies IMO and I dugg that.
7/10
It's all the fault of the people who *****ed about the assistant dying in the first film. And it was also refreshing to see the franchise break away from the "dinosaurs only eat bad people" rule from Fallen Kingdom and Dominion. It was rough watching the girl get killed by the Spinosaur and the guy get swallowed whole by the Quetzalcoatlus but it brought back that sense of danger that had been missing from the last two movies where any character who was a decent person had plot armor.
. But yeah, just an okay film. Cinematography looks great and the action scenes are not bad, but I felt the Dinos just appeared from nowhere most of the times and it lacked some sense of emergency, although the deaths were brutal. Characters are fine but a little boring, even Scarjo didn't do much as a leader, imo. If so then that’s once again a classic filmmaker/studio misreading of the audience reaction - the complaints about that happened because it was such a ridiculously OTT death, not because she was a non-villain who was killed. It's all the fault of the people who *****ed about the assistant dying in the first film.

I got my tickets for tomorrow , earlier. today. Looking forward to finding out what the shaded text is about and if IWas it by any chance the gas station scene that was more of a blatant copy of the kitchen scene from the original than an homage?
I Like your ranking for The Lost World.God, this is such a hard series to rank. Not cause of strong competition. It's a race to the bottom.
1 - Jurassic Park
2 - Jurassic World
3 - The Lost World: Jurassic Park
4 - Jurassic World: Rebirth
5 - Jurassic Park III
6 - Jurassic World: Dominion
7 - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Jurassic Park is an all-time great movie. Jurassic World is fun if you watch it as a 200 million dollar B movie. The Lost World has great sequences, but full of dumb crap like a little girl besting a raptor with gymnastics and so many stupid character decisions. Rebirth has solid action and visuals, but paper thin story and characters and feels like 2 movies sandwiched into 1. JPIII is visually great, but abysmal script. But it at least sucks and is short. So it doesn't waste as much of your time as FK or Dominion. FK wins the crown for the worst though. It came down to locusts vs bad lava logic, and for me the lava logic was more offensive.
SATURDAY UPDATE: This dinosaur franchise is far from becoming extinct as Universal/Amblin’s Jurassic World Rebirth is now looking at a $312.5M opening, heads and tails higher than what we were seeing in our early week projection of $260M.
That’s already the second biggest global opening of the year, just behind A Minecraft Movie and ahead of Lilo & Stitch. And accounting for inflation and currency swings, it’s the second biggest global opening in the Jurassic franchise behind Jurassic World‘s $525M+.
The dinos are eating up an overseas weekend of $171.3M, which is the second-best offshore opening YTD behind Ne Zha 2 and ahead of Lilo & Stitch. It’s also the second biggest international debut for a Jurassic movie behind Jurassic World.
If so then that’s once again a classic filmmaker/studio misreading of the audience reaction - the complaints about that happened because it was such a ridiculously OTT death, not because she was a non-villain who was killed.
