X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set to star Jackman and will be directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition). The producers are Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter (who produced all three previous "X-Men" films), along with Jackman and his Seed Prods. producing partner, John Palermo. The film will be executive produced by Marvel Films' Kevin Feige.

Leading up to the events of X-Men, X-Men Origins: Wolverine – written by David Benioff (The Kite Runner, Troy) – tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.

Several legends from the X-men universe making surprise appearances..I guess placing certain characters that don't belong (w/o mentioning names) is their idea of a surprise.

I'm sure as a fanboy I'm going to have problems with alot of this stuff. :) Like him obviously having a past with Creed, but not knowing who he was in the X-Men movie. Of course, I'm sure they'll explain that all away with Logon's fractured memory. :D

Maybe they'll find a way to sneak Storm in there :p

Sounds cool. This is an origin movie though, so that means members from the X-Men movie want appear because they wasn't in his past (if so, they would've have remember him). We might up seeing others, like Gambit and such. Cool...!

so no room for the Japan backstory or Omega Red? bah

but this movie ends Logan's story where he was in X-men.

I meant prequel. I always thought that if they ever did a "sequel" it'd be in a backwards fashion.

Most likely Magneto.

I find it weird how they putting sabretooth in the prequel movie when he didn't know who he was in the X-men movie. To me that just messed things up from there. Another thing, I hope they don't use those awful costumes from the x-men movies. I wonder why they didn't use the ones from X-men legends.

No crap, they both lost their memory due to the Weapon X program [duh?]. But they did good at hinting at it by having Sabretooth taking Wolvie's dog tags and wearing them himself.

The costumes in X-Men Legends are from Ultimate X-Men.

It really is a shame we wont get to see Omega Red and Japan, both of which i find it hard to see how they will fit it into another prequel, as Omega Red was during the time when Wolverine and Creed were in Weapon X.

I wholeheartedly agree, damn shame.

^I know, and come to think of it, i'm not sure i would want more than one Wolverine Origin movie either.

What you want doesn't factor into it. Clearly they cannot cram all the events of Wolverine's past into one movie, nor would most of us want them to cram it into one movie. Much better to show the Japanese stuff and Omega Red in a further movie, if this one does well enough to warrant it.

omega red would be awesome...

i hope we get some alpha flight action

I don't like the synopsis. Don't understand why they have to use "x-men" so many times in the plot of an origin movie of just one character, in this case, Logan.

They are mixing things unnecesarily, in my opinion. I liked the idea of a movie only about Logan, or Magneto, and appart, the x-men movies, but not a mixture.

Really, i thought Fox were just making the movie for me :whatever: .

I realize all of this XM, i was just expressing the fact that i was dissapointed that some things will have to be excluded, and that more than one Wolverine movie is too much IMO.

I agree with this to an extent, X3 made a similar mistake in putting in too many cameo's that ended up dissapointing fans of those characters because they got so little screentime. The same could easily happen here.
