How far along is this movie?
I hope the Locust aren't full CG...it would be great to get the Stan Winston studio to do these practical creature designs.
Oh well, if they're going to do a Gears movie, I guess they should at least do it right. I want to see as little CG as possible when it comes to the locusts, because they could very convincingly be done with actors in costumes. Not only would costumes save precious budget resources, but they would look a heckuvalot more convincing than CG. This summer's "Hellboy 2" was a pleasant reminder for me as to just how well costumes and puppets work for movie monsters, so I'm hoping that the people behind this film understand that and don't just make a big CG cinema fart.

Worst luck got Kratos.
From the MGM press release about the new Robocop, it is said that God of War is going to be directed by .......Brett Ratner![]()
Alright, here's another one of my dreamcastings but for a Gears movie.
Marcus Fenix: Dave Batista
Dom Santiago: Frankie G
Augustus Cole: Lester Speight
Baird: Ryan Reynolds
Colonel Hoffman: R. Lee Ermey
Kim: Jason Scott Lee

He is a good choice too. Good actor.I like the cast that Geo posted, hopfully the studio will pick something like that.. I like Purcell but what about Karl Urban for Fenix too.
You're probably right. But I can hope. LOLSadly that is not what Hollywood would cast
My personal view of Gears of War is that it doesn't need a movie, because it already feels like a videocgame amalgamation of some of my favorite action / scifi movies (namely Aliens, Predator, and Starship Troopers). Also, a movie would miss out on the game's two greatest assets, which were it's gameplay and graphics-- and frankly, I didn't think that the game really had a story worth retelling on film. It's kind of frustrating that the Gears movie seems to be getting into production so quickly, and yet the Halo movie, which I was much more interested in due to all the various talents involved, is stuck in pre-production hell.

Aside from Neal McDonough, those have been my top picks for a long time, probably before the movie was even being developed. Here are my pics:

I agree.I'm devastated that they won't be using the prequel script that Latino Review reported on a while back. What I read of it was fantastic.
