I don't know. He looks the part but he isn't that good of an actor to play the lead. I didn't really like him on that prison escape show.

He does a good job of playing anger & intensity when he's called upon, but the show is long on cheese and less on development. It's only good at showing the kick ass stuff, not much more for him. I think he's a better actor than the rock or vin diesel... (or Batista ). He just needs a shot and he can pull it off. I guess it just comes down to taste.

We don't need impossibly jacked actors for these roles. All the characters proportions in the game looked like Jim Lee drawings. They don't have to be that big.

He might be a better actor than Dwayne Johnson or Vin, but he hasn't shown it and Blade 3 made me hate that guy. He could be another part in the movie just not Marcus Phoenix. Dwayne was good in Southland Tales and Vin is good in Pitch Black, Boiler's Room and Saving Private Ryan so Dominic is not a better actor.

I definitely agree with you on the Batista part.

Maybe Liev Schriber for Phoenix...he's big and has a scary deep voice like the raspy Marcus does.

Could have lived without the Seeders, they are more of a game element than a story element, but good job they're getting the Corpser and Berserkers in.

This movie really could go either way, it could be a great, gritty man vs alien movie, or it could be an absolutely terrible movie. I don't think there will be any middle ground. Trying to get a meaningful story from 4 steroid pumping soldiers can't be an easy job.

Thanks for the news Hunter. I was hoping we'd get some new info on the movie, with the sequel coming out next month. Hopefully it will do fantastic and that will get the studios moving forward even faster.

And I"m going to have to go along with the others on Dominic Purcell as Marcus Phoenix. He was born to play that role. It's like casting Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier. It's a no-brainer.

Well it seems like they need to add a bit more to the overall story. The story isn't exactly deep and it can't be all action. Normally, I would agree with you in regards to love interests. But I think it would work here.

I do agree with you on the level of the game. There's really no story. It's just a war. Getting from this spot to another, shoot these guys to get to here, get the defibulator or whatever it's called. If they do it well, maybe. They could expand upon Fenix's story and past with his father. There are some instances in the game where you can dig deeper.

Anyway, what major action scenes or set pieces should be in the game? The beginning obviously. But I don't want to see a get here to here kind of thing.

If they're going to develop Dom's character then they need his wife, at least in the first act, just to see what he's fighting. It's supposed to be a prequal of sorts. Whatever that means.

Franky G was actually pretty good in Johnny Zero. I know he was on another show called smith with Ray Liotta that got cancelled. I never saw it, so I can't comment on that. But he did play a normal character in bank job but didn't do much.

Dom's wife does come up in the first game, but only slightly.

Unfortunately, I think this movie will be one big ball of cheese. Critics will complain it takes itself too seriously like they have done with every VG adaptation, as if video games are just 6 hours of fart jokes with non stop violence thrown in. They'll no doubt go out and hire 4 wrestlers for the roles resulting in high fives and more lines of the "Woo, it's the Cole train baby!" variety.

The heart of the story should be taken from the games, but the extras, like the things that make it an "awesome" video game should be left behind because they'll only hurt it.

The only way to give it more gravitas is to expand on the Locust race as well, as apparently if you've played the game they do have reasons, as out there as they may be, for doing what they do. The soliders can be mindless monsters, but give some depth to the higherups on the chain.
