I think they have this thread already but your picks are okay. I think Ryan Reynolds as Baird is a good secondary. I like Vin Diesel as Kim as well, though he isn't asian in the least.

I'm with you on the Locust queen but I also like Tilda Swinton.

I could see that. I definitely don't think we need to see the origin of the war but maybe flashbacks of Marcus' and Dom's life wouldn't be a problem.

I don't know any actors that can do that hilarious gruff growl that John Dimaggio gives Fenix, but I guess it won't be as blatant if the movie plans on being more "realistic."

He doesn't have to have a growl or anything. Just represent the tortured mind of his past.

These guys don't need to be built like wrestlers. Their proportions in the game were pretty unrealistic with the armor and such. There's no way that many soldiers can be built the same.

Gears of War could get trilogy treatment, director reveals
The long-discussed Gears of War movie could be a trilogy of films, director Len Wiseman (Die Hard 4.0) has revealed.

Speaking to movie site Bloody Disgusting, the director, who's currently co-penning the script for Gears with Fast & Furious scribe Chris Morgan, described the films as like a "harder edged Lord Of The Rings"


"I'm writing Gears Of War with Chris Morgan, who wrote Wanted," he said, revealing that he's not actually a gamer (though hopefully he can make a film). "I suck at video games, it just takes me too long and I can't get the coordination of 'em," he said.

"When I was on Die Hard, I had to choose some video game for the background in a scene with Kevin Smith. I was shown about a dozen games and told to 'Choose one to be in the background' and I said 'this one looks really, really cool whatever it is,' and it was Gears Of War. I just really connected with it; the design of it the world, the whole thing. So I actually brought an Xbox 360 to start researching what it was."

For the first time, the director revealed that he wants the scope of the film to be told over the course of three films. "The hope is that were wanting to do a three movies and really cover the bases on everything. Basically a harder edged Lord Of The Rings," he said.

"It's going to be much more [on the] science fiction side of it than the creature side of it. I've always been much more of a sci-fi action fan than a horror fan."

Peter Jackson had three gigantic books as reference material. Wiseman has two games of fairly generic (but brilliant) blokes shouting at eachother - it's not exactly Tolkien. But we'll keep our fingers crossed.

A couple of things kind of in reaction to the latest announcement

1. What does Les mean when he says "It’s going to be much more [on the] science fiction side of it than the creature side of it."? Does he mean no locust? Because that would be epic fail

2. What is everyone's reaction to Lens Wiseman as director? I've liked some of his movies as action movies but I dont know how he will handle the serious moments. Hopefully Cliffy B will help him. I wouldnt mind Zach Snyder doing this. Because he is a director that has a strong understanding of following the source material.

3. Why does everyone want to make a sequel like "Lord of the Rings"? Every movie that is going to be a trilogy i hear LOTR mentioned. yes they were excellent movies but PEter Jackson didnt invent the trilogy with them

4. Should it be a prequel to the first game do you think? I say hell no. Make it based on first game with some more stuff added in.

5. Should the locust be CG or not. I say get the team who made the orcs makeup and whatnot in LOTR, not CG.

6. Who should do the score? IMO Hans Zimmer or Steve Jablonsky

7. Should someone besides Terry Tate play Cole Train? I say yes because Tate doesnt look like Cole at all. But I would like to see Tate coach whoever plays Cole

8. Should it be shot in digital backlot (300/Sin City style). I say yes

I think when he says sci-fi he means the world that they inhabit, and it won't be all horror like Aliens or whatever. The Locust are scary, but if you play the game, you somewhat get why they're doing what they do so they can't just be faceless monsters.

I like Weisman as a choice. He directs action well and the hard edge stuff.

Set in a good story, care about these four guys, make them great actors, and you got a great film.

But make sure to bring Dom's motivation of finding his wife in this film.
