No, people need to stop suggesting guys that are ******ed no names like Dominic Purcell. He can keep breaking in and out of prison on that terrible show forever. This is a Len Wiseman film, I know no biggie but, he usually pays good actors and gets bigger names. See any of his movies...Underworld and Diehard 4 for instance. He's not gonna sign some idiot real life wrestler or some guy that was in one show for 3 minutes to be in a big budget over 150 million dollar movie.

Marcus looked aged, talked as if he'd aged and had scars and if someone/anyone could play that character it is someone who is aged, has a deeper voice, has scars on his face and can ACT like Mickey Rourke. If Marvel can pay him low so can Len Wiseman but that isn't even a concern to me. And another thing...how young do you interpret Marcus. He seems aged to me. He's atleast late late 30's to mid 40's...

Otherwise we are gonna get a terribly acted movie that a studio won't budget high enough without a star, it happens too often.

But if peoples standards are low...go for johnny-go-can't-act just bc he is younger looking and is used to wearing football pads and has once appeared in a CW episode. Meh. No.

Who the hell is this guy? Why do people always support actors who look just like the characters? Let's face it, no matter how much they look like them, we've never heard of them. It was like these unkown actors were pulled out of a file cabinet and sorted through to see who looks like the best representation of the characters.

I can see if this is all for fun, but seriously, it won't happen. Maybe other poeple know of this guy, but I have never seen this guy. Where's he from?

Purcell has been on PB for longer than 3 minutes. And Marcus is in his late 30's. Mickey Rourke is not only older but looks older than what he is. Gears is going to be a trilogy.

As far as Timothy Olymphant, Maggie Q or Justin Long, I wasn't familiar with them prior to. So I don't see how they are so famous & examples of having to be worthy to be a Leisman film. I really wasn't familiar with all (but maybe 1 or 2) actors in Underworld.

It's probably going to the rock anyway.

That's what I've been saying. This isn't a "Sci Fi network Original" movie. It's a big budget movie!

1st picture = no talent what so ever. Nice glamor shot, too.
2nd picture = actual screen shot, character is middle aged and older
3rd picture = Funny how you found a glamor shot for *****e and the worst pick for Mickey to support your "looks over talent" theory. Mickey is older like the character. Your telling me that if he was in costume like Marcus you wouldn't like that? He's talented and people would go see his movie. They won't go see the giant *****e from Prison Break.

Look I'm not trying to be mean or nothing but this is typical. People choose talentless a$$clowns on this forum because they may look like the character more than others instead of considering that the person playing the character may not have the skill to carry that character as well as...ummm an Oscar nominated actor or a man like Bruce Willis who has worked with the director and would also do justice in an action movie for the character. I feel bad for casting directors who probably get letters in the mail for guys like Ben Ryan. Not everyone is freaking Brandon Routh...some are just flat out duds.

Also, hoffman & adam fenix should be older than Marcus. If Marcus is played by someone in their late 50's, and one who even looks like he's in his sixties, this limits Hoffman and Adam.

Here's why Dominic Purcell isn't a good actor: He's been in a few movies and played the part annoying dry and monotone. He has been on one show that is terrible for years and isn't getting any other big work for a reason. No one talks about him having talent, no one nominates him, and no one cares but you and the 12 people that watch that show Prison Break.

To say the character is 36 means nothing...he looks alot more aged than that...but you are missing the point. This isn't about Rourke...it's about picking no name actors because of their looks for a big budget movie. How is it f***ing sane for you to think he can carry a trilogy (possible) for a big movie franchise?

And you are discrediting me with your Al Pacino to Batman bull. Sure, I don't want Pacino to play Batman but I would sure like him to play a role that would suit him. Maybe a mafioso character....Hmmmm why would I want a big tough guy like Rourke to play an older soldier character who is gruff and mean looking. Well he is a good actor and has the tough guy thing down. Oh, I know why he shouldn't play the role! Because he is too old and he doesn't look exactly like the character! How stupid of me. Why would I want a good actor to carry that franchise instead of a dumb, dull actor from a bad T.V. show? The better question is why hire a bad acting, younger looking guy to play a big character in a big franchise?

I don't think we need a big name but more someone who fits the role of Marcus the best. If that person is a big name & then fine. Marcus is a stoic scared hero. Man of few words & yet kicks ass. He has a certain look, deep voice & should not be played by someone too old.

Sure, the rock is a big name in action, but he doesn't do stoic. Maybe it's the eyebrow. And he's not even the right nationality.

To me, Purcell is the best choice. Putting aside the looks, he can embody the character. He should at least get a reading. I also think Eric Bana could work after seeing him in Star Trek. But he's a big name.

I think getting the right actor is more important than being on the A list. Look at sam worthington, he got a shot at a major role and he's being talked about more than Bale. He got the shot.

The cast will be an essential part of the film. If the movie sucks I need something to fall back on like the cast. But it needs to work.

I just want real actors with chemistry and are able to honor what these characters are about. Hey, people can get in shape you know. They can bulk up. So they don't have to be talentless wrestlers.

I disagree, the screenwriter already spoke saying the script is basically backboned on Dom and Marcus' chemistry and that can't be sh** into place with average to bad actors.

Sam Worthington came out of no where and everyone was after him. Purcell had his chance and sucked, imo.
