Geico Cavemen Getting A Comedy Series

Could be interesting. Especially if they continue to play the cavemen as the straightmen, deadpanning everything and acting pissed off at everything with the smartly written dialogue the commercials have had. Definitely no laugh track and no explanation as to what the hell they're doing in 2007. And just keep putting them in situations where they continually show that they're smarter than everyone around them yet everyone treats them like they're morons because they're neanderthals. Could work if it's done just right. My favorite of these is the one with the caveman in the therapist's office, talking about how he hates those commercials and the therapist tries to justify the commercials and he says "Oh, well why don't they say 'So easy a therapist' can use it?" and the therapist goes "Because therapists are..." before catching herself and he repiles "What....SMART?". The look of horror on the therapists face is priceless. LOL! If they can capture that kind of thing and keep memorable lines like "I'm not 100% in love with your tone right now." they just may be able to pull it off.

I can see it working especially as a social satire in the wake of the Imus thing where everyone seems overly sensetive to everything.

I read a review of the pilot for this someplace (don't remember where) and they said that everything they could have done wrong with it, they did. Different actors in the roles, failure to capture even the essence of the commercials, bad writing, poor production. I don't think this one will ever see the light of day.

If Drive didnt last 5 episodes, and Firefly didnt last a full season, this wont make it past 3 episodes. Mark my words.

it is a diff network, but i agree... if there's any justice (which there clearly isn't... arrested... vmars...) then this show will get the boot ASAP.

Since you brought up cameos, how about:Fred Flinstone & Captain Caveman

i would bet there's gonna be a lame as hell 2001 space odyssey reference, probably in the pilot, if not before the series gets canceled.

I love the commercials but a tv show? If there's no laughtrack, I'll give it a shot. I think it could be awesome if it's done like the commercials.

this idea has laughtrack written all over it. it's the first thing i thought of when i read this.

it sounds like "war at home" kind of funny, which is the worst kind of un-funny funny out there.

Hold me, Jag:(

i saw a clip online...

its 3 of these guys talking about the word 'mag' or something as a racial slur for cromagnum men.

it's trying SO HARD to be social commentary of the whole n-word issue, but it dissolves into them sing 'i like big butts' by sir mixalot but with 'mags' in place of the word 'butts'.

THIS is the clip they decided to show to prove the show is really good...

yikes.

It got greenlit. There's link to video footage and I'll just say this: if this is how they're going to roll with this, I'll pass. They don't have the original actors, the jokes are stale, the delivery is crap, the makeup is worse than the commercials, and they have completely missed the spirit of the commercials.

I'm going to watch it! I love the commercials! Especially the one where they are on the balcony! Brilliant!

I don't know what to make of this. It seems like it would be better suited as a recurring SNL sketch that appears four times a season, not a 22 minute sitcom with 22 episodes. Ernest P. Worrell went from TV ads to TV shows and films but are the Cavemen that popular? Maybe it won't get picked up.
Funny you mentioned it but SNL used to have a recurring skit in the 80's with Phil Hartman as a Prehistoric Caveman Lawyer.

I think my soul is crying.

i could very well be wrong, but is this some kind of record? a tv commercial being turned into a full-fledged tv show?

i think this tops when 'the noid' from the early 90's domino's pizza ads got turned into the nintendo game 'yo noid!'

Wait...3 cavemen, living in modern times, battling prejudice? I think they already did this, except it was Monsters instead of Cavemen, and was a sketch on Chappelle's Show...
