I am interested to see, what are the basic general reactions of the fans on these boards?

I have had one hell of a school year and haven't been up too speed on here as I normally would be so I am just wondering what are people thinking right now

me? I think it looks great, but there is something about it that I can't put my finger on that makes me hesitant to say it will be great like I was fully willing to say with Iron Man or TDK

the average CG?

the average CG?

that might be it, but i dunno the CG looks fine, I mean its no say Davy Jones or Iron Man but it is better than the first Hulk etc. I think its a tough thing to ask for flawless CG on a character that has so much going on all the time. like the Hulk is essentially constantly moving. I think some shots look better than others, and I think Abomination looks pretty hardcore

I think it is something about the way the movie is being presented that makes it look a tad bit too cartoony. in all fairness though just because Iron Man and BB are such great movies doesn't mean everything has to look realistic so I dunno

I just haven't fully wrapped my arms around it but it looks like it at worst will be better than the first Hulk (which isn't saying a whole lot)

im superstoked...no complaints to speakof yet.

IMO at least if the movie is comprised solely of elongated shots from the trailer and nothing more it will be about 20 times better than the first one.

as far as i am concerned the first hulk isn't as bad as say daredevil or x-men or fantastic four but its soooooo harmless it hurts. the story is fine, but nothing more and if you deliver a fine story you need to give me much better action. this one looks like the story will be good enough but the action looks exponentially better. the cast is better too which the hope is a strong cast will lead to a strong movie like iron man.

its cool if you like the original hulk. but i just think the 20 seconds of action in the trailer already look 20 times better than the first movie, while it doesn't appear like the story will be noticeabley worse

my reaction is that they've incorporated the repetitive aspects of the tv program (cure trollocks) along with an overly done battle with the abomination.

for the entire film, you'll be sat just waiting for the final fight which is going to cause pacing problems.

as for the fight itself, it may go on too long.

The advertising for the film has been off starting too late with not high enough quality stuff and has been overshadowed by iron man completely.

Although the design of the hulk is better, and the hulk does look better in stills, the fluidity and realism of the cgi in motion is off.

all in all, i'm not holding my breath for this film and i'm hoping to go in being pleasantly surprised. I believe the hulk character works best fighting other heroes so let's see what this film does with him...

i have to disagree...weve already seen from the trailer that there will be atleast 2 fight scene. one vs the military (maybe more) and one vs. the abonmination. add in a chase scene or 2 and i think the pacing will be fine i think.

the whole film is geared towards a final confrontation with abomination, the other encounters aren't going to be a draw.

the longest actual fight i've watched is probably in matrix reloaded and that was about 8 minutes long. they are going to make this one three times as long.

feel free to watch...it feels like it it finishes at just the right point timewise

imagine watching it three times over to gauge an idea of what type of timescale they are looking for.

i'm sorry but a film that gives nearly a quarter of its allocated time towards a fight is always going to be gearing up for that confrontation.

you could be right...regardless, my hopes are already sky high...i hope im not disappointed

Actually Louis Leterrier has said he was misquoted, the final reel will be around 26 minutes but the actual fight scene will be much shorter than that.

Yep.

Leterrier says the final act is 26 minutes long but the actual battle is only 10-15 minutes long.

I completely disagree. Hulk 03's effects were not flawless but I believe they were generally excellent. Look at the battle between Hulk and the military, especially the bit where he rips off a cannon from a tank and uses it to destroy another one. I haven't seen a single frame from the teaser or the theatrical trailer that looks anywhere near as accomplished as that.

I'm still looking forward to this film. I like the whole "man-on-the-run" / fugitive style aspect to it. It brings to mind the Bourne movies - and that's not a bad thing to be reminded of in my book.

Louis Leterrier made a couple of fun but cheesy actioners with Jason Statham. If those were the only films he had under his belt I'd be more than slightly concerned. However, he also directed Jet Li's Unleashed (aka Danny The Dog) and that was a well crafted (albeit absurd) drama-***-thriller.

In a way, Jet's character in that movie is not too dissimilar to Hulk. Generally he is passive and does not want to hurt anyone (like Banner) but once you take his dog collar off, he goes ape-**** (Hulk).

My thoughts? Ed Norton, William Hurt and Tim Roth are all good actors, which is promising. Ed Norton rewrote Zak Penn's script, so we dodged a bullet there. You can't go wrong with Hulk versus the Abomination.

My concerns are that the plot will be too thin and that the CGI won't be very good.

So basically in my view there is more going for this movie than against it.

Norton is an unknown quantity as a scribe. If his writing is anywhere near as good as his acting, we're in for a treat. Why the dodge bullet comment? Was Zak Penn's draft rumored to be poor?

Zak Penn is always poor. :oldrazz:

lol.

it just occurred to me to check his credits at IMDb. I haven't seen most of those films but I know some of them are generally considered horrible (Elektra being the prime example).

I thought I heard that Norton had writing input on American History X/Fight Club, but I may be wrong.

well in that case I've actually got nothing to look forward to in this film.

meh

Unfortunately, that's not good enough at today's standard.

The biggest problem here is Rhythm & Hues. They were responsible for the primitive CGI in The Chronicles of Narnia. And they're not as sharp as ILM or Weta Workshop.

:whatever:

Sure it isn't. Sure it isn't.

Next up: Shivsguy tells everyone how the special FX in Ghost Busters were better than the FX in Jurassic Park.

I believe Norton has re-wrote some of his better movies like Fight Club, and American History X

but correct me if i am wrong

Which explains why their movie won the visual effects award over Transformers... right?
