There is trouble. Whether it works out, we don't know. But there is something here.

Well I'll say this for Tony Gilroy; his absence in Jason Bourne was VERY noticeable, so maybe he'll be able to balm things here.

Hell, apparently you don't need a finished script for that to work out. :funny:

You and I agreed with that from the start, there was something they would not be doing this if otherwise. The severity of it, unknown but I don't think as bad. Even all the non-EW reports said that Disney was liked it but wanted the characters to "pop" more. Or something like that.

As you and I have discussed before I think Edwards is not very strong with emotional moments and deeper characterization. I have a feeling that is where the fixes lie.

With how loved TFA's characters were I could see that they want to make sure they are still strong characters in Rogue One.

One reason I'm really not concerned is Kathy, unlike some other...movie studios right now, she's on the ball.

What worries me is the fact that they hired two directors for the reshoots. Simon Crane's addition tells me the reshoots are going to be bigger than average and that several set pieces will be added or reshot.

I think Kathy is amazing. But she also hired Trank (fixed that mistake before it got past the point of no return) and the director of JW after getting JJ, Rian, Lord and Miller. She isn't infallible, and if anything if Gilroy did have to come in because Edwards is a weak character guy, that isn't something good.

I just want the movie to be great, no matter what happens. But if they really did bring in another director, that just... it just is. If it fixed the problems, it is all good. But then why did they hire Edwards in the first place? Godzilla happened.

I don't know about adding set pieces. But I could see some conflict in what is happening with the story and the action. Characters no longer being in certain scenes, locations changing, etc.

There is always more to it I'm sure. I think Edwards has talent, but characters are not his strong point. They were not terrible in Godzilla, just...kind of there.

Anybody who watched Monsters and Godzilla would know that Edwards films have weak ass characters. I'm hoping for the best but I never liked the choice of Edwards as director. Never.

I didn't really like Godzilla outside of the actual monster elements (so 20-25 minutes tops), but I enjoyed Monsters well enough.

I think he's good, I enjoyed Godzilla, but it's characters were a little flat except Cranston which was a great character just not in there much.

In other Star Wars director news: Colin Trevorrow's latest film "Book of Henry" has been delayed nearly an entire year. It was scheduled to be released next month but has been pushed back to next June in limited release. Smells like a turkey.

You are definitely right, always more too it. But when it comes to bland characters, they can be the worst. A bland one just makes time pass very slowly between action scenes.

If this is a problem, at least they are seemingly trying to fix it. Hopefully it works out.

Your first instinct was probably correct on this one SPIDEY.

Fire him now Kathy. Please. You can always hire Rian or JJ again. It isn't impossible. Please.

I don't like the choice of Trevorrow either. It's definitely not to late to get rid of him.

I don't really like any of the directors Kennedy has hired outside of Lord and Miller and maybe Abrams.

I hate it. I even like JW, and I hate it. It feels like such a step down from JJ and Rian. That is the guy they hired to cap off the ST, potentially Rey's story? Why? :csad:

Rian Johnson has legit skills and has the ability to turn Star Wars a bit on its head, while still keeping it Star Wars.

I know I kind of like JW as well but he's such an out of place pick to end the trilogy.

I would literally prefer the reanimated corpse of Richard Marquand to Trevorrow :csad:

I will wait on Collin, am looking forward to Book of Henry and how he does with that. I like Safety. JW was meh, but I liked his other piece of work.

Damn I forgot about him. Ok so I do like most of her choices.
That she airlocked Trank makes me want to give Kathy more faith in her choices beyond the obvious ones to like. But if Rogue One doesn't quite work out, oh lord.
