Well, that isn't particularly surprising.
I do like how he decides how other people feel, as this movie is getting strong reviews and apparently excellent audience response. :funny:

The teaser trailer had a scene of what appeared to be Jyn and Kassian running to the beach with the plans and being confronted by AT-ATs as the beach.

I don't always agree with Doctor Jones, but i think he made a lot of good points. I had similar problems with the movie.

agreed! In my mind, Force awakens ransk 3rd on my list of star wars films and sometimes I rank it second! im always going back and forth because in my mind, its a brilliant movie. I rank Rogue One 4th because I thought that film was also brilliant! The majority of people loved Force Awakens, and if we're going by RT score, Force Awakens is just 1 point below a new hope!!! and it deserves every praise it got! Rogue One is at 84% exceeding Return of the jedi in terms of overall critical enjoyment and that deserves every bit of praise too and people are loving it just as much as force awakens and rightfully so!!! So does this mean that we're all wrong because we agree that both films are incredible?? haha I dont understand peoples criticisms sometimes man

Having problems with the movie is one thing. I do as well. He goes beyond that. Outside of Cassian, I a very fond of the R1 crew. I think I'll be fond of them in 20 years as well. He did the same with TFA, acting like people are lying about themselves loving the movie or the characters. WTH is that?

And I gave my theory on why those shots are missing. Namely, when they did the reshoots, a lot of it was the ending.

One thing that probably changed was originally there was an achieve and a comms tower. So Jyn and Cassian would have to steal the plans and then cross the battlefield to get to the tower. Instead, they just made the comm tower and the achieve one, possibly to fix the pacing.

There was a shot of Krennic on the beaches at what looks like sunset as well. Makes me wonder if the battle use to take place over a lot longer period of time.

There was also another shot of Jyn and K2 running from the building.

As Doctor Jones points out, it's sort of boring to have the two main characters checking a big disc cabinet while everyone outside is in the thick of battle.

It's reminiscent of The Matrix sequels. Neo had become so powerful, they had to think of silly ways to keep him away from the other fights.

Yeah I didn't really read his post because it's so long, but quick glances and your reaction tells me all I need to know. Not a surprise at all.

I wasn't bored by them. I got a little tired of the rest of the battle on the ground actually, but not them. Because they are doing the most important bit. The entire idea is to steal the Death Star plans. They have to do that bit. :funny:

K2 holding the door, Stardust, the climb. Worked very well for me. What I did not like was the Krennic/Jyn scene.

And it is nothing like the Matrix sequels. You need a Neo like character for that comparison, and the only one here was the man in black. And he wasn't fighting for the Rebels.

Nate Diaz is also not surprised. :o

I get everyone is high on Star Wars fever and everyone feels like you should be united in mad Star Wars love. But Doctor Jones isn't wrong for feeling the way he does. He's entitled to his views.

Yeah if you don't like the film don't include me into YOUR opinion. It's yet another reason I dislike critics, many do the same thing.
The audience laughed at many scenes, could hear a few gasps from kids and ALL clapped at the end, that doesn't tell me everyone hated the film.

And we aren't wrong for our views either, even when Doctor Jones wants to make it seem that way or tell us we are.

And that's HIS opinion still tho Vile. He doesn't need to include everyone, it's like reverse Flamming lol
I have friends that may not see R1 because they feel it's not at all needed in the franchise. I on the other hand, have always been curious about that part of the story and loved it for that reason.

Of course he is not wrong for not liking it. It just isn't exactly surprising that he doesn't.

And its not surprising that he says things to try and make the people who do like it feel like they're wrong.

Vile, he is entitled to his opinion. And I am entitled to point out that just because he feels like that doesn't mean others do. When he gets super condescending about how these films are viewed, like people are deceiving themselves for enjoying them as much as they say they are, that is kind of OTT.

Rogue One isn't my favorite Star Wars movie and I feel like it has a few legit problems. Ones I am more then willing to discuss. But looking at the rankings thread, I don't think I am going to go tell someone they are wrong for having it second or first on their Star Wars ranking. Because they are saying what they feel.

I walked out a big fan of Jyn, K2, Chirrut, Baze and Bodhi. They are characters I already appreciate as a part of the Star Wars lore.

Saw ROGUE ONE this afternoon......Freaking fantastic.....loved it.....Yeeehaaaaaaa.....I'm a happy camper.

But Darth Disney is brainwashing you, don't you see :o

I don't think Doctor Jones is trying to force anyone to agree with him or insulting anyone for not agreeing with him.

Maybe I'd agree if he didn't call fans of Disney Star Wars delusional the other day.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it C Lee

That I did. I went in knowing nothing about it except for what shown in the trailers (not an easy feat).....so was constantly surprised by things. I was blown away by Tarkin, surprised by Bail Organa, Gold Leader, Red Leader, the voice of James Earl Jones, and the fact that Mads Mikkelsen was in it. Great action, some fine humorous parts, and some truly sad moments. Epic.

I will say, Doctor Jones probably should spoiler his review in this thread.
