That I did. I went in knowing nothing about it except for what shown in the trailers (not an easy feat).....so was constantly surprised by things. I was blown away by Tarkin, surprised by Bail Organa, Gold Leader, Red Leader, the voice of James Earl Jones, and the fact that Mads Mikkelsen was in it. Great action, some fine humorous parts, and some truly sad moments. Epic.

For sure man, awesome. Bet you're ready to see it again huh? I know I'm ready for another viewing.

Yeah same here, I barely knew a thing about it before going in. Glad I did it lol

Just got back and I really enjoyed it. The audience seemed to really love it too. Except one guy who was complaining about the fact that there was no opening crawl :whatever:

I MISSED my crawl...LOL.

How did you feel about Vader's pun? :hehe:

Glad you enjoyed Tarkin. I was expecting to be thrown by that, but after his first scene, I was totally buying into it and it gave the film some extra weight to me.

Yeah who brings a knife or a stick to a lightsaber fight? :o

What threw me more was the score. The movie was running late in the first place due to a private screening and the music for the film began, I SWEAR it sounded like the Star Wars theme being played backward lol

Outside of the final scene, where they basically just used Williams score completely. Any other scene with classic Star Wars music almost sounded bootleg. Had to just change it a bit to prove it wasn't just a lift. :funny:

lol I was fine with it, when I heard it lol I just didn't pay alot of attention to the score really. lol

The cgi on Tarkin was amazing, the other character at the end not so much. The movie was really good and took some major risks for a family friendly movie.

I thought the CG on both characters looked great. I was very pleased

Vile, he is entitled to his opinion. And I am entitled to point out that just because he feels like that doesn't mean others do. When he gets super condescending about how these films are viewed, like people are deceiving themselves for enjoying them as much as they say they are, that is kind of OTT.

Rogue One isn't my favorite Star Wars movie and I feel like it has a few legit problems. Ones I am more then willing to discuss. But looking at the rankings thread, I don't think I am going to go tell someone they are wrong for having it second or first on their Star Wars ranking. Because they are saying what they feel.

I walked out a big fan of Jyn, K2, Chirrut, Baze and Bodhi. They are characters I already appreciate as a part of the Star Wars lore.

I feel much the same way about the film. It has some legit problems, but it is generally a solidly made Star Wars film, that is enjoyable to watch and has some standout moments. It doesn't diminish the mythology like the prequels did. I feel about it like I do about the best stuff from the old EU. It is good and Star Wars-y and fills that Star Wars craving between Saga episodes. It didn't need to be perfection, it just need to be good enjoyable and not adversely effect the Saga films. The fact that the third act was such a perfect lead-in to A New Hope* is pure gravy.

*Sorry, Darth, although released as "Star Wars", as soon as they made Empire and titled it Episode V, the first film became A New Hope and will always be that to me. :oldrazz:

To be fair, not even Williams can do Williams anymore really. With a few wonderful exceptions like Rey's Theme, even TFA's score had a bit of a knockoff feeling to it.

To make it clear, I am not talking about the original music here. I am talking the actual use of Williams themes. My brother said it was like when someone is trying to avoid copyright, so they just change something a little bit. IT just felt weird to me.

I disagree with that. At first I was not as into it, but the more I listen to TFA's score I think the more underrated it is. I think it's one of his best scores since TPM.

It would have gone a long way if they just straight up used the original Imperial March in one or two scenes. Giacchino made some weird choices.
