I'm a huge Superman fan. My favorite story is A Superman for All Seasons. To be perfectly honest I think Bryan Singer took the wrong approach from day one with his semi-sequel and has just been going down hill from there.

Isilidur's Heir said how I feel perfectly. He said something along the lines of "It'll be a good movie. But it won't be a good Superman movie" or something to that extent. That is how I feel about it.

LOL!! You're a lot like me on other boards I post on. I feel you. Me, I woulda preferred a different direction for SR as well, but I got this one....so be it. Am I disappointed with what I've seen so far.....not really, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have liked something else even more. I've seen how most posters on the Hype see a critical or negative opinion (or several negative opinions) and they assume "HATER". Your posts stood out in many threads I've read so I asked......you answered and I understand now.

Byrne hated returns? Has he said anywhere that he's actually seen it (I'm too afraid to check his forum - the tales told of that dark and frightening place of madness make me tremble).

Honestly, the reaction I'd expect from Byrne is to not see it - or at least to claim he'll never see it.

I'll answer, since I've actually gotten way under his skin on this before:

He's here for the attention, and he takes it rather personally. He's dramatically exited a couple times and re-entered because he flat out likes the attention. He stumbled upon a posting style that garners him a LOT of it, negative or not. people know who he is, there's a persona and a general knowledge of what "Matt" is, and he likes that. In order to keep that up, he has to maintain the posting style he fell into.

He likes the notoriety and he likes seeing his name on the board, seeing other people quote him. And then, reinvigorated, he goes back to the community board and puffs out his chest, proud of validating his existence on the internet. He gets a rush out of being the underdog, raging against the machine, setting up straw men to knock over to lessen the idea that he's wasting time here running in place. He likes the feeling of net-battle.

Superman did sacrifice Lois in STAS braniac attacks to save the city, remember how you said he would NEVER do something like that umm yeh whatever just because he did in one of the cheesiest parts of STM doesn't mean he would sacrafice millions to save her like he would a SON as I was stating and its my opinion thanks.

Talk about someone who just needs to feel important on the internet try looking in the mirror.

While Matt may post some stuff pro SR people do not like, you all attacking him like rabid dogs only proves his points.
and he has yet to bash the movie for no reason if you READ his posts most of them have some vaid point to them that is a concern he has which is why he posts, not the BS you are trying to spin it like him just wanting attention, perhaps you have him confused with yourself who only posts to get attention?

meh. there were talks of a possible trailer 4, but i don't think we'll get one. they've got enough material to use for marketing now, in my opinion.

but who knows, maybe we will. i've already spoiled myself silly for this movie that a few new clips won't hurt much at all.

freaking 4 more days til i'm in the theater. time cannot pass quickly enough.

Silver age material will not work with the majority of today's audience. I know alot of people on this board love it, but you are the minority. And Im not saying that John Byrne's stuff is the greatest thing this since sliced bread, Im just saying that the way the characters of silver age were written is out dated. If anything, there needs to be a balance between pre-crisis and post-crisis material.

Also, Richard Donner's positive opionion toward the movie, while excellent, is to be expected considering Singer went to him for approval, as another poster stated. This in no way makes me a hater, just an un-biased opinion.

Well, if Geoff liked it than I can assume I will too, as there is not a thing on this earth written by Geoff Johns that I have not enjoyed. Johns is one of the best writers in the industry. He should be scripting The Flash with Goyer--because history has proven that Johns + The Flash = AWESOME.

The Flash and Geoff Johns would equal one kick ass movie

And I appreciate what Geoff Johns did for the Green Lantern, I really do, but I just don't like Hal Jordan that much as a character. Sure, he is fearless ass kicker, but thats it. So one-dimensional to me. The Green Lantern is a character that has yet to achieve it's true potential, but Johns did an admirable job.
