Superman Returns Geoff Johns and Richard Donner love Superman Returns!

I liked Geoff Johns way before this. I would be very DISAPOINTED if he hated it, Im thankful he didnt.

Byrne is another story, his opinion doesnt carry much weight after hes proven what his vision of Superman should be.....a drastic departure from the silver age traditions.

You even called him a 'hack'... and the sad thing is Singer even tried to put a tribute to his Superman in the film...with the 'space plane' sequence, but not good enough for him I suppose.

Superman would not have made the transition into the modern era without Byrne reinventing the character. Silver age worked for the time, but it is dated.

As for Singer's tribute not being good enough for him, as you put it...maybe...just maybe...and bare with me here Kane...he just didn't like the movie. GAAAAASP

Well...duh

Obviously he didnt like the movie. Its a drastic difference from Brynes vision of Superman.

Most of the stuff Bryne changed from the silverage is back here. Well thankfully, most of that stuff is back in the comics now also.

DC seems to be trying to undo most of the Bryne crap anyway.

Didio said the new origins story they are working on for Post-IC is very silverage inspired.

Of course DC is, they are trying to link up the comics with the movie. Big supirse. Just like Peter Parker was drawn to look like Toby Maguire back in 2002 and the X-Men suddenly got black leather suits in 2000. But do you know what happened? All the changes are back to the normal, status quo. DC will go back to the Bryne "crap" once this movie fades into obscurity, because lets face it. Silver Age just doesn't work anymore.

Well I would say silverage works for some fans depending on there age for others who are younger but not to young I would say they might like Byrne's.

Matt, what exactly is your post motivation regarding SR? Are you simply trying to debunk anything positive prior to the official opening so your feelings are spared in the event the movie sucks; basically, removing all positive hype so the movie isn't built up in anyway so it doesn't disappoint you if it flops?

Are you so diehard a Superman fan that the thought of this movie flopping after you've built some personal momentum for it is just too scary for you to imagine so you must eliminate anything good prior to release?

Or are you just one of those fanboys that loves pushin people's buttons, rainin on other people's parades and basically takin a fat dump on other folk's fun? Cause that I respect.

What is your motivation? This is a discussion board. I discuss.

Byrne hated returns? Has he said anywhere that he's actually seen it (I'm too afraid to check his forum - the tales told of that dark and frightening place of madness make me tremble).

Honestly, the reaction I'd expect from Byrne is to not see it - or at least to claim he'll never see it.

Isn't the "Byrne Crap" already retconned out? They'll go back to the WAID crap, wont' they?

Don't take the easy way out. Answer my question. I'm here to discuss, but your posts have a running theme. Sure it all falls within the scope of discussion, but you know exactly what I mean.

brynes crap has been gone for quite sometime, actually.

And many people here come to do nothing but gush. I don't see you questioning their motivation. Furthermore, my posts do not have a running theme, I've been on this board for six years. I post in nearly every forum on the Hype. Mostly Community. I don't like what I see with Superman, so when I'm on the Hype, I discuss that. Simple.

I'll answer, since I've actually gotten way under his skin on this before:

He's here for the attention, and he takes it rather personally. He's dramatically exited a couple times and re-entered because he flat out likes the attention. He stumbled upon a posting style that garners him a LOT of it, negative or not. people know who he is, there's a persona and a general knowledge of what "Matt" is, and he likes that. In order to keep that up, he has to maintain the posting style he fell into.

He likes the notoriety and he likes seeing his name on the board, seeing other people quote him. And then, reinvigorated, he goes back to the community board and puffs out his chest, proud of validating his existence on the internet. He gets a rush out of being the underdog, raging against the machine, setting up straw men to knock over to lessen the idea that he's wasting time here running in place. He likes the feeling of net-battle.

You've gotten under my skin? I can't recall such a thing. Furthermore, I have mentioned this board on Community once. Soooo...yea.

Sure you can.

And thanks for quoting my entire post again, because the words ring doubly true the more you post them :)

And you don't have to directly mention this board to understand that it's this board you talk about. That's just being willfully insulting to the intelligence. It's not coy.

Feel free to post an example. I'd love to see one.

You've posted plenty. Hell, one of em was your sig quote for awhile there, or was someone elses. But again, you know that, because you WROTE IT. I don't have to prove it to you, YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE. Because YOU WERE THERE. The words came out of YOUR MOUTH.

And again, thanks for re-posting everything I write DIRECTLY after I write it. If the point wasn't solidified before, it certainly is now. And whaddya know, look what's happened--an entire thread becomes all about MATT AGAIN. It's amazing how that constantly happens, innit.

Also, noted in your re-posting of everything I write, you're neglecting to address the meat of my point. The only things you seem to have a problem with is that I didn't quote one of your community posts, and the assertion I've gotten under your skin.

All of THIS:

Went by without a single PEEP of protest. But that's mostly because it's right. No one who would try to hold an entire messageboard hostage over a novelization PURELY out of spite could actually ARGUE the above, correct?

More power to you.....I've posted on other boards for years as well so I'm pretty in touch with filtering through a veteran poster's position fairly easily.....your's struck me first so I asked.

You don't like what you see so far. Fair enough. This doesn't mean you're a Superman hater in general....it just means you don't like what has been presented with SR so far....fair enough.

Although, are you a Superman fan? I know plenty of diehard comic fans that hate Superman with a passion.

Thank you. Posters like you on this board are a rare breed.

I'm a huge Superman fan. My favorite story is A Superman for All Seasons. To be perfectly honest I think Bryan Singer took the wrong approach from day one with his semi-sequel and has just been going down hill from there.

Isilidur's Heir said how I feel perfectly. He said something along the lines of "It'll be a good movie. But it won't be a good Superman movie" or something to that extent. That is how I feel about it.

You bore me Fatboy. You make claims, can't back them up at all. Furthermore, you fail to see your hypocrisy. YOU made this thread about me. I was discussing Bryne with Kane and the way movies reflect comics. A poster asked a question. I answered. Then YOU hijacked the thread, not me.

yes....quote a guy whos beef with the movie is that its not based on post crisis....thats wise.....

Gotcha

Thats not my beef with it at all. I think post crisis would've been more logical, but that is hardly my beef. Thanks for assuming you can read my thoughts though

Did i say that? I said you quoted a guy who has a petty beef with the flick because its not based on what he wanted, nothin more nothin less.
