Gerard Butler as Bond?

After seeing '300', does anyone else agree with me that Butler would have made an equally awesome Bond as Craig did..?

Butler is FoTM now. Since 300 is a decent movie an hes good in it he fits the profile for just about any role. Chronicles of riddick would have been better with Butler in it. Butler > Stiller in the sequal something more about mary.

My answer is no. I havent even seen Casino yet an I still say no.

i think Gerard would've made a decent Bond, but i'm not so sure he would've made as good of a Bond as Daniel. sure, Gerard is more handsome and there's no doubt he's intense but i don't think he could've pulled off the "bad boy" persona Craig naturally has.

Gerard probably could've pulled off the text book Bond we all know and love but Craig has an x-factor that gives Bond something new.

Once Craig said "The name is Bond, James Bond", at the end of the film I literally said "he is Bond." Seriously, Craig is the perfect Bond.

Anyway, I think Craig was able to make the role his own in a way that I don't know the others up for the role could have. He has a really fresh flavor that I can't imagine Butler or McMahon or even Owen bringing to the part.

Well...we'll never know for sure. Its like saying, Alec Baldwin would have been awesome as Batman in 1989. There is a lot of evidence to support that, but we'll never know 100%

...And by that time, IF they want a new Bond (but Craig might as well last for one or two more films) Butler will be too old to take over.

Well nothing personal, but many ppl were saying the same thing about Daniel Craig BEFORE they saw Casino Royale, so unless you actually see Butler in the role, you can't really say that he won't be fresh, etc,etc...

All of a sudden all the haters have become Daniel Craigs personal nuthuggers, when, if i do a post search, many of those same ppl were doubting the man when he was first announced. I'm not directing this towards you btw..

Well, actually, nobody was arguing that Craig wouldn't be fresh. The argument went that he would be TOO radical. Some still feel that he was.

And even before CASINO ROYALE was ever released, I would have said that Daniel Craig was a far superior actor to Gerard Butler. Butler has given a huge slew of mediocre and poor performances in his career past, and while I liked him in 300, it wasn't THAT great of a performance.

I think Butler could handle smoothness a lot better than craig and not sound like a rapist, but obviously this is going off his other performances, as 300 isn't exactly the smooth cocktail drinking film to go by....
