Gerard Butler Returning for 'London Has Fallen'

It just doesn't have the charm of the first one. The one-liners fall flat, the action is drab (except for one really cool scene toward the end) and the CGI is terrible.

I thought the first one had some horrible lines by Gerald.

He's got an American accent and spouting swear words. It sounded more like a direct-to-video action movie dialogue

It was clunky.

Well...Nu Image/Millennium did get their start in DTV action sooooooo...

This film wasn't completely bad. It was ok.

It is very nineties action movie vibe with 21st century destruction and post 9/11 murky politics. The film is unapologetic in its pro-western intervention view point and while the villains have a genuine reason to be mad at western governments they still come across as generic evil terrorists.

The Mike Banning in this movie comes across as a total psychopath. I don't remember Butler's Banning character taking as much delight in brutally killing bad guys in the first movie. There are two occasions in which characters tell him to ease up when he has just stabbed bad guys 10 times with fanatical glee.

Some of the special effects are very poor.

A sequence towards the end of the film feels very much like a video game.

I'm late to the party and just wanted to drop my thoughts:

This wasnt a bad movie but wasnt nearly a good as the first. It lacked that charm, novelty and tension of the first one. The first one had this real underdog feel of it, Butler's characters was going against incredible odds and you were rooting for him because of his badass charm and relationship with the President. They probably should have never done a sequel.

There are some good action sequences in this but the special effects are poor and it took me out of it at times. The villain wasn't as compelling or menacing, it just felt like an inferior product but nonetheless its a watchable, entertaining action film.
