He wanted to go to the awards but the producer was a dick. JAWS IV was one big dumb movie. It made Ed Wood look like a genius. I loved the reshot bit they did for video.

In the theatrical version, Mario Van Peebles is eaten by the shark (seen in the mouth getting chewed on)....his character was loved by the audience and everyone complained about him dying....so they shot new scenes for home video where he pops out of the water all smile and says something like "Look, I made it.'.....but they didn't cut out the shots of him being chewed up.
