Ghost Rider 2 underway

This all seems very abrupt. Doesn't the studio want to wait until the first one makes some actual money? Seems rather odd, especially with them essentially pulling the last minute screening crap.

Agree.

But 4 years? It definitely wouldn't take that long. MSJ says he'd love to do another and they've already got the effects down so it'd be 3 years at most.

Great news but it is crazy when they confirm sequels when the first is unreleased.

hey, Spidey 3 is 4 months till being released and they've confirmed a Spidey 4. ;)

it's happened before.

btw, i really need to see the first one. i heard it's pwnsome!

I'd be very surprised if anything concrete has been set, since the film only opened yesterday and it remains to be seen how audiences take to it and what kind of business it does.

Of course, as a fan I'm very happy to hear it!

:woot:

Cool News, but your right sometimes that comes back to bite the studios in the ass when they talk about sequels etc.. Eragon anyone?

I wouldn't mind a sequel, but to be honest Sony should wait until the public has had enough with the first one. Rushing the sequel can backfire very easily. Time will tell, I guess...

I wouldn't suggest rushing it, but I wouldn't delay it to long, elsewise it will never happen. Like Daredevil 2, that's not going to happen is it?
Only in my mind.

i doubt it will get greenlit until the overall box office worldwide comes in.. I intend to see it again next week, to try and keep the momentum going.. I hope other fans do as well..

I hope they just jump into the plot next time.. as far as villains, I guess they have more than a few to pick from in the comics.. I'm not really hip to the GR's rogue's gallery, though.. I could see him taking on some kind of monster-worshipping cult, though.. but I want more straight battles, and less penance-stare finishes..

Eragon will probably get a sequel. It's been a dude domestic but worldwide it's a big hit. I was surprised about that as well considering everyone that i knew who saw the movie , hated it.

Weren't they expecting Harry Potter numbers for Eragon?

I don't know, here in Italy the dragon's dubbed voice was seriously miscast (also Arslan, but that was a little better) the movie resulted very comical here... also i read the lead actor doesn't act anymore and works as a constructor in GB...

they had anounced the release date for spidey 3 even before spidey 2 I wonder what provokes them to think that sandman is ben parkers real killer?

I feel the same way man I feel the same way

i doubt that happened to him.

Production Budget: $100 million
Domestic: $74,148,776
Foreign: $167,305,057
WW $241,453,833

imo it broke even.
i'm still surprised it did so well considering how awful the movie was imo

Anyways , enough of Eragon.
I still think Marvel is a bit too optimistic in already announcing GR 2.
We all know that the opening weekend is really no reason to continue with a sequel unless we're talking about a MASSIVELY huge opening weekend ( 80 million plus).
The real test will obviously be next when we'll see just how big of a drop GR will have. Not taking negative reviews including bad WOM into consideration , i think that Ghost Rider will have pretty smooth sailing so far for 2 weeks.
Both "The Number 23" and "Zodiac " are R rated movies which definately plays a role in getting the $$$. There is the (big) chance that both movies will wind up No 1 during their respective release dates , but i don't see them posing that much of a problem for Ghost Rider.

Reading the reviews so far , there's definately (much) room for improvement. The comparison of FF seems justified IMO , based solely on BO performance and reviews. From the way things are going with FF2 , it seems they are definately improvng on a lot of things so there still improvement with GR 2.

Don't take this so literally. Catwoman had a sequel planned and look what happened there...

Yeah but Crapwoman bombed on ALL LEVELS.
Critically and commercially.

That's the big difference between Crapwoman and FF. FF was/is hated bry critics and comcic fans alke , yet it still brought in the $$$.
While it's still to early for Ghost Rider to say whether it's a critical and commercial bomb , i think we can agree that it's not that bad.
Crapwoman had a 100 million dollar budget and it opened with 3rd place with just 16 million , grossing 40 million domestic and 70 million WW.

Ghost Rider did 40 plus million in it's opening weekend and opened in 1st place. The comparison i'll still use is FF.

I would not see anything happening until the movie has been seen by people,it may not be a huge success..and these plans may be scrapped.

Woot, great news. Can't wait for this, I read an article said that the target release date would probably be in 2009. :cwink:

I'd love to see a sequel.
When I went to see GR there were a lot of people seeming to have a good time. It's a light hearted faire that people can take their kids to. I really think that was the intention, to make it super kid friendly. I know many say we've seen this formula done to death but this type of character is new. I think it was a good introduction to those that are not familiar with Ghost Rider.
