Ghost Rider - The NEW Ongoing, Vol 3 (Possible Spoilers) - Part 1

Spirit of Vengeance trailer is up!

Oh man is this looking good! The stunts, the action and the new visual design on Ghost Rider is just sweetness itself. idris Elba playing a holy battle monk alongside Ghost Rider pissing fire = Exploitation heaven.

GR looks great but.....Nic Cage.....what happened? :(

There's some properties that would do great on TV as a series on HBO/FX/AMC. GR is one of them along with Punisher or Heroes 4 Hire.

DAMN! DAMN YOU TO HELL, MARVEL!

I want to see that. So much now. :csad:

For directors like Neveldine/Taylor, villains like the Orb and Madcap seem perfect.

Just seen the trailer for Spirit of Vengeance and I must say I'm excited to see Cage try it again. I myself have never read any Ghost Rider comics, can anyone recommend me a volume to get?

You should try these Ghost Rider books:

Road to Damnation
Trail of Tears
Hell Bent and Heaven Bound (volume 1)
The Last Stand (Volume 2)
Trials and Tribulations (Volume 3)
Heaven's on Fire (Volume 4'ish)

Good individual comics:

Ghost Rider #34, and #35 written by Jason Aaron.

If you can find it: (from the 90's)

Ghost Rider Wolverine Punisher: The Dark Design
The Midnight Massacre

Reviews of individual comics and the story arcs listed above can also be found on this website:

another good website is: The Spirit of Vengeance: Encyclopedia of the Ghost Riders

Dark Design? Really? That was horrible, especially when held in the same light as Hearts of Darkness. Now that is a trade you must read.

I agree on Midnight Massacre, and Rise of the Midnight Sons is a good one.

Cheers guys! After pay day I'll get a couple and post what I thought.

Man I loved the Dark Design. The artwork was fantastic, it had some great action, and [BLACKOUT]Blackheart actually kills Mephisto[/BLACKOUT]. Then again I liked the entire series, including Crossroads.

the arc that followed Midnight Massacre, the Road to Vengeance (if I recall correctly), was the last good one, to me. After that, with Siege of Darkness and all that followed, for the most part forgettable. The few issues with Blackout and Skinner were okay. but that's because I like those characters.

And don't even get me started on my hate for Ivan Valez Jr.

I liked his Vengeance story. Plus we got to see the return of Whiteout and Anton Hellgate. Remember the McDonalds Clown suit GR was not Velez's idea, it was Marvel comics idea to revamp the series.

I didn't mind the neon pink. I just hated his writing. Thought his issues were absolute crap. His Vengeance storyline was why I dropped the book in 1996. I didn't catch up until 2001, and that was depressing.

I stopped reading during the Pop Mahn days...the art was just...not for GR.

I didn't hate Pop Mahn. Hell, I liked some of his work on GR, but it wasn't right for longterm stories. Valez's run just piled more crap on top of crap.

Yeah..when I saw Howard the Duck on the cover...then I heard something about Barb being raised from the dead...I think thats when I said I had enough.

Oh, lawd, I almost forgot Scarecrow possessed Barbara's corpse.

I wish I did.

I hope those books never get collected.

After being disappointed for the last 15 years or so of Ghost Rider, ever since the 90's series ended, I've officially decided to stop picking up the book. This is a major move for me...

DK,

Which comics from the new series did you pick up? Just curious.

I have every Ghost Rider issue Hammer Lane up to the Fear Itself issues, the issues that Jason Aaron wrote with appearances from some of the characters from the 90's series that didn't really lead anywhere had potential but have let down by GR for years now and have finally decided to stop wasting my money on the Ghost Rider...

Ah, that sucks. I was let down a few times, but for some reason I can't stop reading it. Child-hood addiction since 90's I'm afraid.

Ditto. I'm only 1 issue behind on the current series due not have a LCS. Was ever able to find the Shadowland issue for a buck.

Is anybody else struck curious that they are releasing #5 and #6 at the same time? Are they trying to make bigger sales or is the series already being cancelled?
