They're both Zadkiel. The one on the Ketch cover is the version we saw from the GR comic. The GR cover looks like the cover artist took liberties with the character.

i actually like the 2nd one better. The first ones too polished. If it didn't look out of focus the second one would look real good.

I like both designs. The first feels my dynamic while the second feels more barbaric, that which I don't see when think angel, even one on his level. I think they both could work if allowed.

I'm rather fond of the first one. I like the mystical "strings" Zaddy has on his fingers.

You think it's a metaphor for Zadkiel literally possessing Dan in some way? I'm hoping Dan comes out the other end of this reformed or dead, personally. Continuing with him as a villain would just be lame.

Well I gather the DK mini is about how he came to be under Zadkiel's servitude, so yes, I'd say it is a metaphor.

ISSUE 29 - My Thoughts

Dan Ketch Ghost Rider vs Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider (CAUTION SPOILERS)

Winner: Dan Ketch

OK so the two heavyweights go at each other throats in this issue. This fight is a long time coming and almost seams to surreal to think about. those expecting the DK Ghost Rider to shine through by using his motorcycle and his chains in the bout will be dissapointed. The fight itself seems more like a role playing game as both GR's test each other's powers. Dan Ketch mostly punched and pummeled JB with Boulders, at one time he even did a backhand karate chop and a low kick. JB on the other hand, just likes to go ballistic and blow DK-GR to smitharines, which manages to stun DK for a little bit. The final finishers used by both contenders is the Penance stare, which does not effect DK as much as it does JB. DK's only sins were the lives of the other GR's hes taken. It looks like he wasnt responsible for the deaths of anybody else, not even in his past. JB goes through severe PTSD after his run in with the Penance Stare and begs Dan to finish him off. The images portrayed through Huat's art is quite shocking.

We can assume a few things with the Penance stare DK gave to Johnny. One - Craig and Emma (his 2 kids) are both dead or at least captured...looks like they were captured by demons. 2ndly, Roxanne is laying on the floor with only her torso left, the rest of her body is gone, so we can assume she is dead again. What the HELL happenned to them?

We also get to understand a little more into the motive of DK working for Zadkiel, and that is to remove the curse from others who have lost everything because of it. It appears DK has come to accept the curse and is willing to use it for a genuine purpose, unlike others who always seem to be unwilling. A little sympathy shines through DK's persona as after giving the penance stare to his brother, he kneels down and says, "Close your eyes brother, this will all be over in a minute."

Although Caretaker Sarah takes JB away, DK doesn't bother to pursue them with his bike, its almost as if he's proven himself to his brother and now its only a matter of time.

In the very end of the comic two new Ghost Riders show up (Molek and Bai Gu Jing as confirmed by Jason Aaron) in the picture to take JB and the new Caretaker somewhere safer.

This comic was a great read, and even though it seems there are more JB fans than DK, at least we DK fans can enjoy the fact that our boy came out on top in the end of this battle. :word:

No. 29 was very good read. The only problem I have with the art now is the skulls. Too alien looking compared to Saltres, who did a phenomenal job on DK #2.

I want to know though, how all these spirits of vengeance are around the world and nobody knew about them. It’s cool though that most of the spirits shown now are more oriental. Makes me think Aaron can tie in the blazing skull into the mix if he wanted to.
It was great to see Mr. Eleven come back in DK #2.

Danny and Blaze has an alright fight but I WANT NOBLE KALE TO COME BACK!! It's weird to read Danny’s dialogue and not have the cryptic like tone being spoken.

Well I think the skulls have been improved upon. There are some panels I thought were kind of rushed and the skull looked pretty bad, but for the most part, the quality was nice. These 3 panels especially:

I agree with you on Noble K's persona. Daniel Way at least recognized that persona and made it completely separate. It seems ever since his run in with Lucifer, Noble K's persona has just said, "f&8ck it" and let JB have total control.

It seems that Noble just let this spirit borrow his duds. The attitude this run has never been what Noble Kale was in the 90's run. And the fact that they never mentioned him in the Death of Johnny Blaze or Road to Damnation makes me believe it's not him at all.

On that note I wonder how Danny could have gotten rid of Noble Kale like he did. Theyu both seemes like they were in horrible pain and the way Danny talks about "losing the power" sounds like he killed Noble by doing that. I hope not. Maybe they will bring back Noble like they did Zarathos but not evil perse, but like the Trail of Tears Rider, obsessed with vengeance.

Over at Standard Atrition I asked Jason Aaron about Noble Kale and from what he says he is definalty not hosted in Johnny or Danny and
He is going to be mentioned in GR 33. Hopefully we can find out what happened to him!.

Is it just me or is it almost like a dream to be able to speak to the writer of a comic you've grown up reading? How freakin cool is that. Thanks 68pie for the news! I'm happy to know he isn't forgotten about.

That art's looking tighter than his first issues, so that's at least a positive. Gotta see how Aaron's going to try and explain Zadkiel's S.O.V.'s, Zarathos, Kale, etc.

It's actually quite good for Tan Eng Huat. You should look up his JLA arc if you want to see some truly terrible art.

If anyone is interested in GR appearances, like all previous runs GR is featured in Marvel Zombies 3 actually fighting Machine Man for a couple panels.

Vengeance...HUNGERS. :whatever: GR cant be destroyed by anything physical so I dont know why he doesnt reclaim his bike.

what is up with the artwork...my god it sucks

TEH's artwork has gotten much better. Its not in the league of Ghost Rider Art legends Saltaires, Texiera, Garney, Kuberts, and LaRocca..but its tolerable.

I would like to see John Romita, Jr./Klaus Janson do a short run on Ghost Rider. I really like the work they do together.

I was just looking through the Marvel solicits for March and realized that Tony Moore is drawing issue 33!

Tony Moore is perfect for Ghost Rider. Plus, Jason Aaron and Tony M are good friends, and I think don't live too far away from one another either. They are a perfect match.

I've been hoping for Tony Moore to get a shot at Ghost Rider and looks like he is going to get it!
