Ghostbusters 3!

I'm all for GB3, but the "real" ghostbusters idea; if i think what people are saying, the cartoon version in cg, I do not like that idea. I want it to look somewhat like themselves for continuity sake. I don't want a blonde egon or a long-faced peter venkman.

Same here...why is Bill Murray bein' such a d*** and refusing to allow them to use his likeness? :csad:

hmm...i don't know what to make of this news.

i mean, it's believable that murray doesnt want to do a big live action studio movie because that aint really his bag these days.

but at the same time, his relationship with harold ramis strains the idea of the movie coming together. plus, i want this to have the same dark toned apocalyptic feel of the first, not some cartoony bull****

This is not getting made, and I'm a huge Busters fan so it's not like I'm just hating.

In that recent interview, Dan said that GB3 would be a video game, insisting it's no longer a movie. And the game may not even happen.

Dan has confirmed a GB3 movie too many times. I remember back in 1997 he made an announcment saying he's written a script and that GB3 was a go. Then a year later he stated in an interview that if fell through. And there's no chance of it being live action as Murray won't do it and Ramis has stated he'll never do a starring role again.

Not to mention Ms. Weaver recently stated there's no plans of another Ghostbusters and if there was she wouldn't want to be apart of it.

Did we need another TMNT movie? not that it's bad, the Ghostbusters should save New York one more time.

Jeez...why's everyone so damn reluctant?!?!? I mean, it's not like they're running away from a "Batman & Robin"-eske disaster of a franchise!!! The GB was/is great...everyone loves the ghostbusters...

:csad:

Care to fill me in? :yay:

They had a fallout once. Back in '05 Ramis contacted Bill about doing a film with him, Bill never returned his calls and then Ramis was finally able to contact him again, he asked Bill once more and Murray said he wasn't interested in anything Ramis has to offer. Ramis said he's never talked to him again since then and has stated off the record that "Murray's a brilliant man, but he's also an ***hole"

Thanks for the info. :yay:

Hmm...Murray an a**hole? To be honest...I can see it. :o

I'm so confused, I don't know what to think anymore.

thing is nomatter how you look at this..bill was the star of those films..and without him..well i would shudder to think.

Everyone loved Dirty Harry at one point, but no one's demanding another Dirty Harry film. The last GB movie came out almost 20 years ago, and things ended on a fairly good note. No one wants to see something that ended well enough be bastardized horribly because todays jackass film producers can't create worthy franchises.

Well, damn.

Although I do have an interest in seeing the old gang back together one more time for a "Ghostbusters 3", it's certainly looking like it's becoming less, and less unlikely it's ever really going to truly happen. I figured the CGI thing would in some ways fix Murray's reluctance to appear in another live action followup, but apparently it's a bit more complicated than just that. :o

Oh well.

After a long absence ghosts start to reappear in New York. Egon decides to start up the old business again only this time using new recruits. He develops a new Ecto-2 using a new Chrysler along with new more advanced proton packs.

The new team starts training in a new addition to the firehouse. It is basically a large walk-in version of the containment unit, as to let the new team train with real ghosts but not to have them escape. The training is going well until one of the new guys almost zaps another and a fight breaks out between them all. Egon is frustrated and starts to ask the old gang for help training them. They have all since moved on and respectfully decline.

While Egon is pondering over his current situation an alarm goes off signaling an appearance of yet another ghost. Egon takes the new team out for their first assignment. They catch the ghost but not without A LOT of collateral damage. When Egon gets back to the firehouse he starts analyzing the data on the new ghost appearances. He discovers that they are appearing at an exponential rate and starts working to find a reason. He discovers that rifts in dimensions are how the ghosts cross over to ours. He goes to work crafting a device that can send objects out of phase with our dimension and over to the ghost dimension. He doesn’t try the machine yet because he cant quite figure out the mathematics. He stops working on it and heads off to bed.

What Egon doesn’t know is that the “X-TREME” Ghostbusters have been watching him and decide to cross over dimensions to put a stop to the ghost problem. They use the machine, not knowing that it isn’t finished, and drive the new Ecto-2 through it. That is the last we see of them. Because of their ignorance the machine starts opening rifts all across NY and an influx of ghosts fill the city. Egon awakes to dozens of alarms going off. He heads to the TV and flips on the news. He watches in horror as millions of people are attacked by ghosts. He runs downstairs to discover the “X-TREME” Ghostbusters and their new equipment gone.

Egon speeds over to the old gangs respective places of residence and finally convinces them to help. When they get back to the firehouse the guys ask Egon what they are supposed to use since the equipment is gone. He smiles and walks over to a large object covered with a tarp. He pulls the tarp to reveal the ORIGINAL Ecto-1 with proton packs laying on the hood. There is then a montage of them suiting up. They slowly drive the Ecto-1 through the portal and appear on the other side of the firehouse. They begin to think that something went wrong but when they exit the firehouse they see that it hasn’t.

The sky is a deep crimson red and everything is on fire. They look around and see a sign that says “Welcome to ManHELLton. Population 999 BILLION and rising”. The streets are completely gridlocked with everyone honking and yelling, nobody speaks the same language. They look towards the Empire State building and notice something different about it. Its completely twisted metal and practically demolished with huge winged creatures flying around it. They walked into the street to discover that they could pass right through the cars and drivers. Egon explained that this was because in this dimension they are similar to ghosts and the ghosts are more like people and items from our dimension. They all hopped inside the Ecto-1 and slowly pulled out into the traffic, the same went for their equipment.

They sped down the busy street towards the ESB all the while passing through the other cars. When they arrived at the ESB they jumped out of the Ecto-1 and ran to the street to vomit, all but Winston. He told the guys “Now you know how it feels.” , referencing the ghost train that passed through him some years ago. They looked up at the top floors and saw multiple explosions and spouts of flame shooting from it. They knew what they had to do and hesitantly entered the building. The lobby was full of people arguing with the staff, once again all in different languages. They waded through the commotion and entered the elevator.

It was a long akward ride to the top with heavy metal playing through the speakers. When they exited the elevator they discovered that the top of the building was completely destroyed. They looked towards the edge of the building to see a man looking out towards the chaos that was “ManHELLton”. He turned to face them and they saw that he was a normal looking man with black slicked back hair and a nice white suit on. He introduced himself as “Lucifer/Mephisto/Beulzabub/etc.” and welcomed them to his realm. He extended a grateful thank you to the team for making it so easy for him to terrorize their dimension.

Egon tried to explain to him that neither dimension could handle the strain that he was putting on it and that eventually they would collapse on each other and create just one dimension. To adjust to the strain the spirits would inhabit the bodies of the New Yorkers and cause mass chaos. The man just smiled and said “Don’t you think I know that? It would be a paradise, a literal “Hell on Earth”. And I’ve got just the thing to deal with you pests.” The team felt the floor rumble and heard the roar of an engine. Then all of a sudden the Ecto-2 flew up off the side of the building and crashed down on the demolished roof of the ESB.

Only, this wasn’t the same Ecto-2. It was transformed into a hellish red version of itself. The doors flew open and out flew the “X-TREME” Ghostbusters, only the looked different somehow. They had been transformed into demon/ghost versions of themselves. The man said “I found these roaming around my realm so I took them under my wing. They look much better don’t you think?”
Venkman and the XGB exchange banter and the OG quickly dispatch of the XGB. The man says “HOW, THAT’S NOT POSSIBLE!?!?” Venkman looks at him and says “We’re the best. We’re the beautiful. We’re the ONLY Ghostbusters.”

Egon exclaims “NOW!” And the gang shoots the man while crossing the streams and he implodes. The guys look up and notice the sky cracking and pieces raining down on the city. They race back downstairs to the Ecto-1 and speed toward the firehouse. They go back through the portal and Egon reverses the polarity of the machine creating a giant vortex above midtown Manhatten that pulls all the ghosts back into their realm.

The End.

and why this thread is still alive is beyond me! not going to happen people....the same news gets recycled every two years, and I know that this CGI movie is a misunderstanding from a proposed GB3 next gen game (which also probably wont happen either)

GB3 may well happen...but not in the foreseeable future..

With all teh 80 movi comback why not doa reboot like with Batman Begins. Cast new people to play Ray Egon and Pete and do what J.J Abrams is doing with StarTrek. Reboots have worked for Batman Franchise and 007.
