No earlier in the year they were hoping for a winter start. But they still offically aren't greenlight, or cast the film yet. I do hope it happens. But its more likely for a spring or early summer shoot next year. If they still want a summer or winter realease in 2012 they have to start shooting no later then june.

well i not giving up just yet. we are far closer to a film now then ever was back in the 90s.

Honestly, who here would honestly buy Jon Heder being the son of Peter Venkman? Hell, I couldn't even imagine him as somebody who grew up in Venkman's company.

I'm usually more open minded but this would be terrible casting.

I gave up on this project a long time ago.

So did Bill Murray :csad:. Seriously though , it's going to become a running joke.
10 years from now they'll be asking Akroyd how that script is coming along.

Im giving up on this project too. Also, the original guys aren't getting any younger.

well we can all be like that and the what happens come 2-3 months from now we got official greenlight, and we are casting new busters and a confirmed start date. I wont give up so soon myself.

Oh, I totally forgot about this protential sequel.....

sadly, I think Hollywood did too.

i was originally against the idea of a younger group of Ghostbusters but I've warmed to it a bit. The key is that the originals still have big parts and they have to have Murray involved. I don't want Peter to be a ghost...not for the whole movie anyway.

the problem now is that Dan has written the sequel over 10 years ago. It's like it's been stuck in development hell because right now, it's back to square one.

The only progression they had was the video game.

The original characters were all practical. It would be ridiculous for any of them to be Ghostbusting . I can see Egon and Ray training. Winston and Murray will probably have smaller roles but hopefully Bill doesn't just do a cameo as a Ghost.

hows it really back to square one. They have a script that the studio probably at least likes a bit, and now harold/dan are doing touchups on.

How is it any different to the status of this project a year ago?

Like last year:

-Murray is still being negative and thinking its not going to happen.
-The writers are still tweaking the script.
-Dan and/or Harold still saying the script needs work.
-Still no cast.
-Still no director.

On my part, i'm simply sick and tired of hearing the same old NON-news over and over again every few months...

But Dan had a script almost ten years ago (with Ghostbusters in Hell) then that became the video game when they couldn't get it made. Then there's the new script (with the next gen) and now it's back to square one, going back to Dan and Harold. Again.

The video game helped peaked public interest for a real Ghostbusters sequel, but they can't make it work. Bill Murray does NOT sound interested at all, regardless if the Office writers worked on it or not.

So for the past decade, it's the same song and dance, and nothing gets past the scripting stage. Since GB 3 couldn't get made, that's why Men In Black 3 was greenlit. True story.

The problem is NOT how Spider-Man was in development Hell during the 90s because it didn't have the baggage of being a sequel. Here, the old timers are getting old. It's not like how Harrison Ford looked fit in Indy 4, the majority of them are just aging, with Harold Ramis looking the worst. I don't know if I want to see these characters age like that.

well that could play into the plot with them being old and out of shape and all that. I do hope the film does happen. But i am not just going to give up on the film. Cause what if things do change within a short period of time and production of the film gets underway by the summer.

Nah I certainly don't want to see them running around doing the physical stuff like its still 1989. They need to acknowledge they're older. The younger recruits should be doing most of the legwork but the originals still need to be the guys in charge and mentoring the newer Ghostbusters to make the newer guys more acceptable. Its got to be the right balance of old and new.

Now I want to go watch Ghostbusters I and II.

This thing is just going in cricles. At this point I don't have much interest. Until I see something official and it's actually greenlit then I will care.

i does suck going in circles and all, but it does seem the studio is more wanting it now then in the past. hopefully dan/harold can hammer out rewrite fast, and everything gets moving. I would hope if they can get draft out by end of the yr and studio oks it along them and ivan they can get into pre production and casting in spring for a hopeful summer shoot.

Me 2.
I saw the GB 2 action figure pack at TOYSRUS yesterday and that was a tempting purchase. I've been picking up some merchandise lately , so far a slimer refrigerator magnet and GB sticker on my computer.

Bill Murray showed up at the Scream Awards last night, in full Ghostbusters gear... :hehe:
