Ghostbusters 3

Extreme Ghostbusters looks like the closest thing we'll be getting. :csad:

well i still dont see anything wrong with the whole ideal of new younger busters. the point is the old crew is old and its to tough for them to handle any more so a new crew is trained. But then the old ones still around to play important roles.

Man I so hope they do it... I think what'll end up happening is that they'll be way way too old to do it so then given another 10 years, Universal or whoever will just remake it fresh from scrap... which would suck...

well i do hope once dan and harold get script draft done. Hopefully all parties like it and it gets in soon. So then hopefully official greenlight and all that and get to the nitty gritty stuff of hiring crew and cast with shooting following. Crossing fingers still. But i too would hate for a remake dont need it.

That will never happen.

Unlike other franchises, the actors and the director (along with the studio), own the rights to the franchise/IP. Sony can't touch Ghostbusters without Aykroyd, Ramis, Murray and Reitman signing off on it.

If Murray has held out this long on GB3, he'll never let them remake it (thankfully).

only time would be likely if no new films happen in next few yrs would be when all parties are gone and if no heirs gain the controlling rights.

Q: Has there been any talk of your involvement in "Ghostbusters 3"?
Weaver:
Yes, I got a call from Ivan Reitman. I think everyone who's involved would love to get together again. I think everyone's working on really trying to create a wonderful original story. I just said, "That would be fun and please make sure my little son Oscar grows up to be a Ghostbuster." And he said, "Absolutely." Then I think he directed this other film and is busy editing it, so it kind of got put on hold. But I would be surprised if we didn't do it.

Bill Murray showed up at the Scream Awards last night, in full Ghostbusters gear... :hehe:

not so fast. The facial motion capture technology used in Avatar could easily be used to de age the ghostbusters.

well that could play into the plot with them being old and out of shape and all that. I do hope the film does happen. But i am not just going to give up on the film. Cause what if things do change within a short period of time and production of the film gets underway by the summer.
then you can go see it in the theatre. By give up, they mean they aren't going to eagerly wait hoping for something to happen. I've given up too. I'm sure some day we will get a reboot. But it's not the same.

They don't need to deage them if the story is about the originals getting to old to handle the fight any more.

You know, aside from hair color and maybe a few pounds, Murray really hasn't aged that much...

That picture is awesome....

Someone how is finished with something doesn't cameo in a recent movie regarding it, and certainly doesnt appear at an awards show dressed as it.

Bill Murray is still a Ghostbuster, and appears to want to be one still...

Time will tell....

Yea really if he wanted to leave it all behind he wouldn't attend shows like this. I am sure there is still a part of him that wants it all to happen.

plus, lets not forget his cameo in Zombieland with the Ghostbuster references

Seriously...for someone who seems to be totally against a GB3, he sure has been referencing it quite a lot lately.

I actually like the idea of young GHostbusters. Especially the idea of baby Oscar growing up to want to be a Ghostbuster and then maybe bringing on a few friends for the ride. But it would focus on both the old and new generations

Just based on actors born in 1989 there are some good potential Oscars

Yea there is, plus with new busters we don't know how they would handle them eother. Would they all be you g 20s or some guts in 30s like originals were and all. I hope dan/harold draft is knocked out fast and everything gets the final push to happen stage. I don't have link on hand but there is a clip on youtube of bill from the show up.

Ok, here's my idea for a new GhostBusters film.

It's been a few years since the events of GB2...actually a lot of years. The Ghostbusters have become a small franchise with a few facilities in a few different cities. Peter got hitched and is now taking care of Oscar with the only woman that can stand him...we get references to this in the film, but never see him.

Egon pretty much stays at the main New York HQ (which is where the film takes place) working on new tech. Ray and Wintson are assigned the duties of training new Ghostbusters to take over their spots in the New York facility. So, they take them out on missions and walk them through the procedures.

The film would start out with Ray and Wintson driving Ecto-1 with some new recruits...the whole thing is a disaster...no team work. The recruits are dumped, never to be seen again.

Enter the new stars of the series. We have the super smart, nerdy fellow who knows A LOT about pretty much any and everything, but lacks any and all street smarts. He's naive and very quirky. He occasionally works with Egon on new equipment...which is how he's picked up for the team.

Next is a girl. She loves this stuff. She can't wait to try out the new equipment, go on any mission she can get into. Backed with a tough new york attitude, mixed with a child-like awe and innocense when it comes to the supernatural and busting.

Then we have the cocky, arrogent ladies man. An asian fellow who's mainly in it purely out of curiousity. Much more intelligent than he seems, but prefers to play it dumb.

Last, but not least we have the by the book straight shooter guy. He's serious, with a hint of dry humor and cynicism.

Some interesting thought which would be oscar in your idea, if u even wanted oscar to be a gb.

Perhaps it's all part of the show? Could Murray be intentionally doing it to generate publicity?

^Exactly. Murray has said over and over that Ghostbusters as a cinema franchise is dead, that he doesn't want to do another, etc. This just feels like him pulling our legs. "haha, this is what you guys want to see me as Peter Venkman...I can't help but laugh."

I'd put Donald Glover in as either the first guy or the last guy.
