if they remake ghostbusters...i will be upset that they didn't take the opportunity to consider making it a "part 3" where the original cast returns to involve them in a story line where they are retiring and handing everything over to the noobs...and if that cast includes Paul Rudd or Seth Rogen and whoever else was discussed...it could be cool.
And about the Real Ghostbusters DVD....Holy f***** wow!!!

no the game isnt canceled its was delayed to some time next year to coincide with the 25th aniversity of gb1. As for that article i posted i dont know if there is any truth in the hatred between the guys. From everything i ever read about all 4 of the leads is they are all pretty good friends.

^^^ who is this guy?

A falling-out between Ramis and Aykroyd?! Thats a little hard to believe. This sounds like one of those "this guy heard from close sources that so and so and blah blah" situations.

That is hard to believe. I do however think the one with Murray is legit...

In past interviews, I recall Ramis saying Bill was/is "brilliant" but also an a**hole.

Yea everything i ever heard about the 4 leads is dan and harold are very close and good friends, murray was the loose cannon and caused problems, and ernie i never heard anything bad about him. So as i said the moviehole guy probably got some bad news.

do you remember the episode where there was that cloudlike spirit was in the lady's attic...that was scary, well written and gave me nightmares as a kid...i think i was 7 when i saw it, i watched it everyday after school around 3:30 or 4. That is just one of the reasons I am getting that box set because i have only seen that episode twice.

Columbia calls up new 'Ghostbusters'
Eisenberg, Stupnitsky to write reunion film
By MICHAEL FLEMING

The studio has set "The Office" co-exec producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to write a script for a film designed to bring back together the original cast of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.

Studio would not comment on the development and has been mum on recent rumors that there was interest in making another installment of the franchise.

The scribes just wrote "Year One," a comedy that was directed by Ramis. Ramis with Aykroyd wrote the first two installments of the films. Ivan Reitman directed both the 1984 original and the sequel that was released in 1989. The close proximity between the writers and original Ghostbuster Ramis is evidence that the ghost chasers have sparked to the idea of returning.

"Ghostbusters" was Columbia's highest grossing film ever, until it was beaten by "Men in Black" and then "Spider-Man." An attempt to make a third installment of the franchise was stymied in the dealmaking stage. Sources said so much gross was pledged to the participants that it was next to impossible for the studio to make any money on a third installment.

No deals will be made with the original cast until the script is ready, but the gross percentage will certainly be an issue. Sony has a standing policy not to allow more than 25% of first dollar gross out the door.

The scribes, who are Emmy- nominated for their work on "The Office," just set up another picture at Columbia, selling their spec script "Bad Teacher" to the studio for Jimmy Miller to produce.

Is this really it? Please let it be it. All these false rumours are killing me.

If they can actually get Bill Murray to do it I might be on board. I'd really prefer to have Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis write, but I love The Office so we'll see.

Yeah, in the commentary Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman make jokes about Bill Murray being a prick. "Venkman as a self-serving jerk? Where did that come from?" They also keep pointing out how he usually made sure he's covered in the least slime and goop in various scenes so everyone can see his face.

Don't know how legit this is, I saw it over at CinemaBlend, but since this report stated who the writers were before Variety broke the story, there might be some truth to it.

The Real Story Behind the Ghostbusters III Script

A Pajiba Exclusive / Dustin Rowles

So, a few of the trade websites, including Ain’t It Cool News, are reporting on the possibility of a Ghostbusters 3, mostly based on this statement Dan Aykroyd made to EOnline:

Well, y’know, two sharp young writers are purported to be writing the sequel, the third movie now. If I could interest Seth [Rogen] and Judd [Apatow] to be part of it, that would be an absolute dream.

There had also been some talk that Rogen and Apatow are actually writing a script for Ghostbusters 3, which Rogen denied last month.

Anyway, here’s the scoop: A couple of guys named Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, writers for “The Office” who wrote the script for the forthcoming Year One, had been secretly working on a script for Ghostbusters 3. Their idea was that they’d hand it off to a new generation of Ghostbusters. However, Columbia Pictures never actually told Harold Ramis they were working on the script. Oops.

So, Stupnitsky and Eisenberg wrote an outline, which Columbia loved. Ramis found out, however, and he was pissed, and when they sent the outline to Ramis, he shat all over it.

Now, to appease Ramis, Stupnisky and Eisenberg have started working with him on a new outline.

The problem: Columbia Pictures is worried because they don’t like any of Ramis’ ideas, all of which presumably leaves the future of Ghostbusters 3 up in the air.

Then again, if we can get a Ghostbusters 3 out of the writing duo behind some of the best episodes of “The Office” — without the involvement of Ramis — I’ve got high hopes for Ghostbusters: The New Class.

Harold Ramis has also directed three episodes of The Office.

Here are the episode's credited to the two. I thought Dinner Party was the funniest episode The Office ever aired, though not the entire episode was written by them.

1. "The Fight" (November 1, 2005)
2. "The Secret" (January 19, 2006)
3. "Michael's Birthday" (March 30, 2006)
4. "The Convention" (September 28, 2006)
5. "Traveling Salesmen" (January 11, 2007)
6. "The Return" (January 18, 2007)
7. "Women's Appreciation" (May 3, 2007)
8. "Dinner Party" (April 10, 2008)
9. "Job Fair" (May 8, 2008)

The sequel is in good hands.

:wow: It's finally happening .

I did enjoy alot of those episodes. I also feel that these actors in particular were talked to before any official scripting was decided to be developed.
The Office is my absolute favorite show right now and I am glad that this movie will be in good hands. They better hurry up dammit.

i'm sure some of those acors could easily be involved. i have feeling they would ask for seth rogen .
And since Seth Knows Steve and Steve works on The Office and Ramis has been in a few Apatow films.

IT ALL MAKES SENSES!

Like seth's character says in 40 year old virgin.:yay:

I want this SO BAAAD!

I hope Bill Murray grows up and realizes that no one else is banging down his door except for maybe Wes Anderson. Murray can either do this or call Tarantino for a revival (although he should probably do both)

I couldnt agree more.
