Why not just use a quote from Ghostbusters 2

A Brief 'Ghostbusters 3' Update From Dan Ackroyd

The long gestured GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is quickly becoming one of the most aggravating projects to follow on the Hollywood block. With franchises seemingly being the only real force in Tinseltown, it's shocking to me that the third film isn't already in production, or at least in heated talks. Rumors hit the web this summer at Comic Con - and then were squashed - that Apatow and Rogen would be joining the project, and there have still been rumblings about this HELLBENT CGI direct-to-disc release, but nothing has ever been officially announced. Today a blurb from "real" Ghostbuster Dan Ackroyd hit the web that carries a small glimpse of hope. Read on, watch, then speculate with the best of us...

According to AICN, writers have been hired to script Ghostbusters 3

Ghostbusters is my fav comedy and one of my fav movies of all time. If this happens (and the original cast all returns), I will pee my pants.

So is this goin to be like a next generation type movie and have the orginal actors return for a bit in the film? I'd be ok with that. The orginal trio kind of went down hill LOL.

Well since not much is officially known at this time we dont know what the story and film will be about. The only real news is the office creators were hired to write a script for sony/columbia and by the articles talking about them it says its about the originals busters back. But a retiring/new "younger" group taking over is likely what the story will be about.

And i be happy with that storyline.

Yea them retiring/passing the story/mixture of extreme ghostbusters would be a good way to go. We have the originals back for what ever length of roles they would like/want and then we get a new crew. As i said before with all the false starts for gb3 over the years we will just have to wait and see how things develop on this.

I was actually happy when they were discussing it on Good Morning America this morning. I couldn't hear it all, I was half asleep, but Robin mentioned something about "this is what Hollywood is wanting to happen"

No. At least I don't think so. There was a rumor last year or so that said Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, and Steve Carrel were going to be the new Ghostbusters and Apatow was writing the script. It turned out to be just a rumor when they asked Seth Rogan about it and he said it would be "Awesome" but nobody ever actually told him about the project.
whew.
I was getting excited about seeing a 3rd ghostbusters, but if rogen was involved I would have to pass.

I'm fine with the originals retiring from active duty and getting younger guys to do the dirty (slimy?) work, but I sure as hell hope that they get a group of actors that are in line with the comedy that Aykroyd and Ramis had with the original two movies (i.e. none of this Apatow junk).

To the Apatow haters-

We have to be realistic here, we have very few choices for Hollywood comedy: Happy Madison or Apatow, and I choose Apatow lol. I'd rather see Seth and Steve in the GB duds rather than Sandler and..well...his crew I guess.

Although I would like to see Justin Long play a GB.

Well, yeah. There are...
Sandler and his guys (I really dont know any of their names except Rob Schneider)
Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Will Farell, possibly Jack Black and RDJ (???) etc.
or Apatow, Rogen, Carell, Rudd, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, etc.

I'm going with Apatow and co. Those guys are doing the great comedies these days, although I did love Tropic Thunder.

I think Apatow comedy is relativley on the same grounds as Murray, Ramis, and Aykroyd (a little more taboo to keep up with the times). Stiller, Vaughn, Wilson and Farell are more slap-sticky.

Yeah. And Sandler seems to be like "lets come up with something childish and throw a few funny gags in there for fun." His style is the weakest out of the three groups, imo.

Ya I really dont wanna see a screaming Sandler in GB gear running into a bald Steve Buschemi playing a homeless guy asking for mcdonalds, then poking his mole on his forehead lol.

Now if Sandler was being directed rather than having complete control over the project, then I might consider.

Why not mix and match?

Vince Vaughn, Seth Rogen, and Sandler?

:thing: :doom: :thing:
if you want mass suicide and enraged people burning down theaters then yeah cast the movie like that.:whatever:
you managed to come up with the most unthinkable cast possible!

I'd rather the limit of gross-out sex jokes to be low in GB3 (if it happened).

I don't mean this to be mean, but are there really people desperate enough to just see a movie called "Ghostbusters 3" that it's an issue of settling, because at least we see it?

And as for other actors, I'd prefer to see other Second City people, UCB people, just that improv and stand-up and sketch style of comedy. I like Seth Rogen and et al, but I just can't see it meshing that well.
