With the anniversaries of both movies approaching this seemed like a pretty appropriate thread and I felt further compelled to start it after talking about it a bit recently in one of the unpopular movie opinions threads. While the original Ghostbusters is (rightfully) a beloved film, it's sequel doesn't really seem to get the same amount of love. Time to fix that :D

Does anyone else absolutely love Ghostbusters II and consider it an unfairly maligned and hated on movie? I can understand thinking the original is better and I'd never argue or dispute that, but I think GB2 in it's own way is still an awesome movie that deserves so much more respect than it gets. I find it's just as entertaining and smart as the first with the same winning balance of scares and humor, much of the cast is back and still has the same great chemistry as before and I always really enjoyed the river of slime plotline and thought Vigo was a great villain. It's just as quotable for me as the original is, too.

It always crushes me to see people hate on it, but it seems like it has it's share of fans and defenders, including quite a few here.

Not as great as the first but still good. It would be good on it's own but the shadow of the greatness of the first overwhelms it. The 2009 game is amazing though. I wish they made another one. :(

Remember the part when Peter is at Dana's apartment and is purposely ignoring Dana until she makes the move to acknowledge him.

I've always love his reaction with that deep sexy voice.

"HELLO DANA".

I loved the whole photoshoot at the studio where Danas boss keeps trying to shoo them off and they just ignore, pester and annoy him while doing whatever they want.

I love Ghostbusters II. I honestly like even more than the first. Come at me.

"Suck in the guts guys, we're the Ghostbusters"

"Who ya gonna call?"
"HE-MAN!"

So bad. :p

I've always considered both equal. To me GB2's not better or worse than the first but simply as good. I kinda view both movies together as more of a mini-series event than two seperate films if that makes sense.

i like Ghostbusters 2

not as good as the first film but still a pretty solid sequel. why hasn't there been a blu-ray for this movie yet?

Was He-Man popular in 1989?

That's what the party was about. The kids had the swords and everything. All I know is that if I was a kid and the Ghostbusters showed up at my party I'd go bananas.

I've always enjoyed the second one, it's actually one of my earliest cinema going experiences that I can remember. It's been a long while since I've seen it however so don't really recall how it holds up. First film I've seen more times than I can remember, I like them both for different reasons.

It's obviously not as good as the original, but I don't think Ghostbusters II is as bad as people say. If a Ghostbusters III came out today (and sans Raimis) it would make II look like Citizen Kane in comparison.

GBI - 9/10
GBII - 7/10

Always loved Ghostbusters II, and yes I did see it when it originally came out.

Egon!

Why? You really think 70 year old Dan Ackroyd and Ernie Hudson (forget Bill Murray being involved) will make a good Ghostbusters movie? Okay, you can :whatever: all you want, but deep down you know I'm right.

It's a river of slime !

GBII is good but not as good as GBI ( few sequels are anyways ).
I also prefer the mythology of the first ( Zul, Gozer, Vince Clortho speach, the mad architect etc ).

It's certainly a good movie but I don't care much for the whole slime responding to bad vibes plot. Could do without them remote controlling the Statue of Liberty too. That said, the chemistry and dynamic between the characters is still spot on
