The other day i was talking with a friend about this, if a Ghostbusters 3 is ever made, what would you want it to be like?

- Remake (same characters, same story updated, diferent actors)
- Restart(diferent actors, diferent story, same characters)
- Sequel (continuation of Ghostbusters II)

same actors and director...................or nothing

We had two movies and a couple of animated shows and a bunch of toys. Isn't that enough?

you know I wouldn't mind a Live action tv show... I mean we got supernatural going, and stuff like that... a Ghostbusters Tv show would be cool :)

Ghostbusters, Die Hard, Rocky, Terminator, etc... All franchises from the 80s that are perfectably viable for a sequal if done right. I wouldn't mind either a sequel or a restart/sequel. I mean the concept of a bunch of guys catching ghosts is good enough for me, as long as it's not rehashing, I'm game

That would be a good way to go IMO,
If they did a movie i think it would be best as a new generation with say one being related to the originals and they have decided to follow him into the buisness,a cameo by the originals would be cool though

The question is, how do you do another movie about some guys catching ghosts without making it feel like they're just making the same movie all over again?

let the boys go with a little dignity and grace, please.

How about the original Ghostbusters have turned the business over to a new team of Ghostbusters since the last Ghostbusters movie so they could pursue other ventures in life, but one day the new batch of guys go missing after being out on call to a haunted mansion & the original Ghostbusters are brought back together to rescue them from a living hell.

I loved the idea that was floating around for a while of the old Ghostbusters training new ones. Imagine Murray, Akroyd, and Ramis training Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, and say Dave Chapelle(If he'd do it, it'd be ingenius), if not Chapelle, maybe somebody like Will Ferrell or Luke Wilson.

Extreme Ghostbusters basically attempted to handle it via the cartoon series. People don't like it, but it was done pretty well, and was just as dark as the original, though some of the humor was lacking. If they did do a third, they'd have to have them face some of the newer entities that have surfaced since the '80's like the cliche Japanese female ghost with the hair draped over her face, etc.

Let it die.

This franchise is very old and I doubt requels, remake or restart will work now.

I've watched some EGB lately and yeah it's not bad, the first few episodes struggle to find their legs but when it does, the stories become pretty good and interesting with a lot of nice little touches thrown in for RGB fans like me. It's a shame the series had to die. Though the PC idea was overkill with one of them being handicapped in a wheel chair, these were some good characters.

Oh and a sequel? Bring it on!

I'd even take a blues brothers 2008.

No need for anymore Ghostbusters. Just leave the franchise as it is.

I collect spores, molds, and fungus.

Amen.

A while back I toyed with the idea of a remake with the Wilson/Vaughn/Ferrell/Stiller crowd, but I couldn't fit them correctly into the roles, and besides it would probably just suck.

I think there's a lot of stuff ready to be written about the ghostbusters getting old, I mean let's face it these guys are a joke in the scientific world, and imagine reaching the end of hte line, your legacy is a joke and no one even recongizes you, and then they come knocking on your door as always needing help. THere's potential there for a great sequel.

I say that there should a continuation, building up a new franchise...or, at least, a last movie, which, in that case, Movies205´s idea is actually very good.

I would do a "Superman Returns" with Ghostbusters 3...
Just like Superman Returns did was to give an excuse to why we, audience, where without a Superman movie for so long....because he was away, he returned to Earth and the movies screens at the same time.
It was an extremely bad way to go with Superman, but it would really work with Ghostbusters.
But, my take would not be to explain why the Ghostbusters disappeared, that happend because there were nothing to do, but rather, why there was nothing to do, and years before, there was so many.
And why there was so many back then.

This way it gives a all new level to the Ghostbusters and not just someone "friends catching ghosts".

That's pretty clever, as in both movies the abnormal amount of ghosts present were due to the coming of an extreme omnipotent demon. It reminds me of that one episode of the cartoon where Sam Hain's presence attracts all of the spirits and ghosts in the area, including Slimer.

It's not a bad idea but there's a fundamental flaw unless I misread your idea. Becuz I take it Superman REturns way was casting all new young people, the reason it was possible to do with Superman Returns(though it failed miserably) was because Christopher Reeves wasn't all that memorable, he did a good job, but there's no way of getting another actor to portray Venkman same way it'll be nearly impossible for Kirk and Spock. But I like the idea of coming back after they've been gone. I mean the idea is great, just come up with new characters, and not new characters that are merely charictures and it's like "That one's the venkman of hte team, that's egon, etc"... But Ghostbusters sequal is possible, one with quality. The question is would today's audience be interested in something like that? I mean in my Highschool FIlmstudy class we watch Ghostbusters and god... how disrespectful they were :cmad: I properly made fun of them of course, except the insults were beyond a third grade level so they didn't get it :(
