For crime, I'd also Criminal, Darwyn Cooke's Spirit, Road to Perdition, Sandman Mystery Theatre (if she likes the classic noir style), and maybe 100 Bullets (it's a long series, and that might be off-putting since it largely deals with an ongoing plot from book 4 to the end).
