So I'm annoyed with Marvel. It took me 16 years but I've just about had enough. I quit Spider-Man and I'm quitting New and Mighty Avengers. Other titles that I only occassionally read are going to be dropped as well. The only things that I still enjoy are the X-Men titles, New Warriors, Avengers: The Initiative, and Thunderbolts. So I have room for maybe about an extra 3 or 4 comics and I want to fill those slots with some DC stuff... as I've read little of them and enjoyed what I read. I basically read everything important from Identity Crisis to Infinite Crisis, the first couple of arcs on Green Arrow (Ollie's return), and that's about it.

So my question to you is.... what do you suggest? What's good right now? What's a good book or two that's good to just jump into right now? I hear awsome things on Green Lantern right now so I've started picking that one up (and am trying to get the back issues of the Sinistro Corps storyline). And based on a guys at work's suggestion I just picked up the most recent issue of Nightwing with Rags on pencils. It's good but I don't really know what's going on.

Anyhow... so what do you suggest and why? Anything I should know about DC since I stopped reading that is good to know? Any help would be appreciated.

I tried both All-Star comics. While I loved Lee's art in Batman I just couldn't get into the writing. And I just can't get myself into Superman. I've given him chance after chance and I still just can't get into him. I like him in a supporting role and such, but not one of his own.

And I keep hearing good things about Booster Gold and Blue Beetle so I'll have to try those out.

And I'm definately going to get Justice in time.

How about... oh crap... what was the name of that book. The mystical team. The people from Days Of Vengeance during Infinite Crisis? How's that book?

Its funny cause was gonna ask someone to reccomend me some Marvel titles cause Im fed up of DC......

I heard Top Cow's Rising Stars is the shizzle. Read one of the graphic novels and I liked. And yes, Tim Kring definetly ripped it off to create Heroes, just like he does with everything...

The Marvel titles I'm enjoying at the moment:

    Thunderbolts
    Avengers: The Initiative
    New Warriors

And the X-Men books (X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, X-Factor, New X-Men). They're one issue from wrapping up the Messiah Complex crossover and it's been great, so you can probably go back and pick that up. After it's done there's going to be some major changes, relaunches, etc. So it's a good time to start on the book.

And since most DC people seem to be into Cosmic space stuff, look up the Annihilation comics. The original Annihilation story was phenominal, then Nova got an ongoing out of it, then Annihilation: Conquest is the sequel, and while not AS good as the original, it's still good reading. If you're interested then I'll break down all the minis and such that lead into them both. Their on issue 3 (of 6) on Annihilation: Conquest.

I honestly haven't read it in years. Well... I read Bru's first arc, and it was good, and I read the beginning of Bendis' arc and other misc. stuff here and there, and they were good. But I've not read it in a good long while. I've heard good things though.

Ooh... a comic I just recently read and thought was good... Immortal Iron Fist. I forgot to mention that I plan on starting that one up myself. And I've never cared for the character before now. Bru's just doing a really good job.

If yoy want to **** over both DC and Marvel only buy Invincible and The Walking Dead.

But if you're not a ****** and realize both DC and Marvel put out some great comics, I'd suggest...

    Blue Beetle
    Booster Gold
    Brave and the Bold
    Captain America
    Daredevil
    The Flash
    Immortal Iron Fist
    Incredible Hercules
    Justice League of America
    Justice Society of America
    Teen Titans
    X-Factor

...and Invincible and The Walking Dead.

    That's the gold standard.

I really enjoyed it. There's a lot of set up in the first issue and it's a bit of a feat reading it, but now that it's out of the way I expect the rest of the book to be great. The art was good and the story good. Some people complained about the writing a bit but I didn't see anything wrong with it. Overall I'd recommend it. And it comes out every 2 months, so it's not exactly a wallet buster.

I just can't get into zombie stories, so I probably won't bother with Walking Dead. Invincible however, I've read the first 25 issues or so and loved them. I wouldn't mind starting an official collection on the book, but I'm so far behind that I'd have to get caught up.

You're refering to Shadowpact. It's not bad or anything, but I read the first arc and I just didn't care for it at all. And I wouldn't get emotionally invested into it (like I did with Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis and Firestorm: The Nuclear Man), it's within cancellation territory for DC.

Ive been reading Countdown, kind weak. Dont know bout Green Arrow/Black Canary but that looks kinda weak

    Issues from DC I read:

    Countdown
    Batman and the Outsiders
    Detective Comics
    Justice League of America

Hopefully once they fix Cassie up and get her swag back on point, they'll be another Batgirl series...
