In retrospect, I think I probably would've enjoyed the Toxic scene more if they didn't show Jacob and the fat chick having full-on raging orgasms over 50% of the number.

I don't think Dianna's voice is all that bad to not ever give her solo's like they've done recently. Of course she isn't a powerhouse singer but she's not bad by any means.

I think her voice is about as good as Cory's who seems to hog all the male solo's as of late.

I think she is passable and I actually thought she owned "Keep Me Holding On" early last season.

I mean, I would say she is a better singer than Brittany or Sue and on par with Mrs. Pillsbury.

It's just Rachel belting them loud is starting to get old.

:hehe: Also, since when do high school kids say things like "Spears is Fierce?" Was Spears even popular with high school kids in the late 90s? When did she ever go beyond the junior high crowd? The enthusiasm seemed a bit untrue.

Well, they had a point about growing up with Spears. I mean, if I were to name things I grew up with in the media it would be Power Rangers, Fox Kids/Kids WB, boy bands, and Britney Spears.

Of course she was still huge then! I was in high school from 2000-2004 and she was still an icon then. I remember Toxic came out January of my senior year and we were all still bumping that song until summer was over. lol

I was in show choir for four years and we actually did attempt to convince our choir director to let us do Britney. We wanted do "Stronger" or "You Drive Me Crazy" although we did try to get "I'm A Slave 4 U" approved of course we should have known that wasn't gonna happen. lol

I definitely still view her as a pop icon for my generation.

But did guys ever see her as anything other than a sex icon? Artie's enthusiasm, Finn's, Puck's, Asian Guy's, etc all felt untrue. Were guys ever really into her music?

Ok, so I'm watching it on Hulu and this episode may be the low point of the series. The fantasies are ridiculous. The Spears cameoes are shameless. The irrational love/hate everyone feels towards Britney is beyond absurd. And sadly, while this episode creates many opportunities for good character moments (Things like Kurt and Schue in Figgins' office), they are passed over. Just a really bad episode.

Disagree, Matt.

Though, it's the highest rated episode to date, and is STILL trending on twitter. Toxic and Only Exception are currently the top songs on iTunes, while the rest of the songs from the episode are still in the top 10.

I was...... when I was 10....... and I thought she was hot. :o

So, yeah, you pretty much nailed it. The enthusiasm thing, not your views on the episode as a whole. I actually enjoyed it.

Ratings don't equate to quality.

P.S. Quick question: Why are the Glee kids still so hated, again? For two years in a row now they blew the roof off the of Assembly. Yeah the first time it was an obnoxious song that got them investigated by Higgins. But this year they just left the student body in a Britney Spears "sex riot."

You'd think their station would move up at least a little.

Plot convenience.

I mean, lets be honest... for what this show DOES have going for it, it doesn't have a very well thought out plot at times. So they've had to stick to the "everybody hates us" game to maintain some kind of consistency.

Is it contrived? Well, yeah, but that's TV. Can anyone honestly say they went to a High School where the social class structure was so rigid, ridiculous and violent?

Anyways...as for Quinn not singing much. Dianna herself has said she is fine with the amount of singing she gets on the show as she's not as comfortable with her voice as the other cast members on the show.

I did find it a bit weird that all of the guys were for it. Espically since they werent that excitied about Gaga or Madonna if I remember correctly. But maybe they just wanted to see the girls dress up in skimpy outfits?

And to be honest the straight guys of the group were ***** in both episodes, so I'm glad they didn't pull that crap again with them.

Yep. Exactly what I thought JP.

meh. while i really liked this episode.. and it was far more entertaining then last... it did have an overall "filler" feel. sure we were introduced to stamos, and got a tid bit of info on where we are with Will's love life... the rest just seemed sorta pointless... it was just "a little" info on Will's love life, little (yet imo needless) information on Rachel and Finn (though glad to see he's back on the team), and honestly that was it. Filler to me is you could cut out the entire episode and it wouldn't affect the plot of whatever arc they are telling. And that's exactly what it was.

I personally can't wait till we get a real story arch back.... right now this is just feeling like the back 9 of last season again.

"Hit Me Baby One More Time" = Worst.Performance.Ever, maybe even worst of the entire series.

She looked ridiculous. Moreso after Heather Morris knocked it out of the park with "Slave 4 U" & "Me Against the Music" w/ Santana.

i kinda gotta agree, but it was mostly just because of the parts where she had a close up, singing at the camera... she seemed incredibly sad

I dont think they were in the Lady Gaga/KISS episode. They just didn't want to do Gaga and, really, I cant blame them. I would much rather do KISS than Gaga, if I had to choose.

Truth.

And the Madonna episode was preposterous - they took themes that were supposed to express female independence and strength and instead boiled most of the non-singing moments down to "guys suck and don't understand."

I didn't like any of the music in this weeks ep but in fairness I'm hardly the demographic for it, however I thought Stamos was fun as Carl and the Sue & Shu show was funny as always.

Except sadly they are right. Most of the times it is a straight guy that just doesn't understand what it's like to be a woman/a powerful woman.

Maybe it's fear of a powerful woman, maybe it's just they don't think you can be both beautiful and pretty, I don't know, but I think Glee definitely got it right there.

Gay guys understand what it's like to be a powerful woman?

That is a load. It is both generalizing and offensive.

Preview for next week's songs:

i usually avoid these cuz i like to be surprised

Puck singing Only the Good Die Young is a good fit
Bridge Over Troubled Water is one of my favorite songs of all time
