Except her music career didn't end with the K-Fed marriage. 3 number one hit singles after it, a successful sold out tour, and an anticipated follow up album say that Britney still has a fairly strong musical career.
And you know these are kids in a Glee club, just because a song or artist started before their birth doesn't mean they can't be exposed to his/her music and like it.
Yes...and no.
Britney Spears' heyday was most certainly between 1998-2004. Then came "baby driving," "I shaved my head," "I am beating up papparazzi with a golf club," "Leave Britney Alone," "Britney's back, *****," and "The corn will be a good crop this year, Stan" Britney.
And that pretty much defined her for the next five years. The crucial years when the Glee kids are supposed to be in 5th grade-onwards.
Her comeback has not been a fully robust one as of yet as though she had three hits, she has been constantly overshadowed by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and other pop acts.
That is why her producer begged on Twitter that they do a Britney Spears Glee episode in the first place and then why she insisted on appearing in it after the episode had been confirmed.
Here newest hits are supported largely by her older fans. She isn't gaining new ones, hence the Glee episode's initial inception.
Why else were
all 5 Britney Spears songs in the episode 6-12 years old? I mean just watching the final scene of this episode, it is obvious the producers like contemporary Top 40 radio to be on the show. But with Britney, that is not where her popularity truly lies.
