I ejnoyed the Madonna episode. The Lady Gaga episode was "meh" for me. I don't like her music that much so it was pretty boring. And I think that was the same episode where Finn got yelled at by Kurt's dad, which I HATED. I did not agree with that storyline/reaction at all.

I didn't like that either, but that didn't have anything to do with it being a spotlight on Lady Gaga.

The Madonna episode was okay, but it had a flimsy narrative. If that was the only gimmicky episode of the back 9, then it would have been fine. But by also shoehorning in what was basically a Lady Gaga episode and fitting a very lame cameo for Olivia Newton John gave the whole back 9 a rather disappointing feeling (along with the incredibly poor handling of creating resolution for the Jesse and Rachel's mom characters, and the underuse of Quinn after she was so pivotal in the front 13 episodes).

And a Britney Spears themed episode (complete with a cameo from the forgotten pop star) sounds worse still, but c'est la vie.

The idea of doing Lady Gaga made sense, because it is all about finding your own personality despite being "weird" or "different." Gaga is those things And their usage of Pokerface was really well done and subversively funny at the same time (if you know what the song is about and in the context that it is being sung on the show). But for some reason Gaga's best, Bad Romance, just didn't translate well on the show. I think it was just too overdone wit the costumes and every girl getting a solo in the song that it became like a high school fan video (with really professionally done costumes). And the only two who sang the song well were Quinn and of course Santana.

But the songs Telephone, Speechless, and Just Dance would work really well on Glee and they're at least doing the first one. So let's hope it is more Pokerface and less Bad Romance in the show's case.

Songs that I think the show should do at some point:

-"Speechless" by Lady Gaga (as I just mentioned it)
-"Something" by the Beatles
-"Wonderwall" by Oasis
-"Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen
-"We are the Champions" by Queen for the Nationals episode
-"Send in the Clowns" by Sondheim with Schue and Terry (or Emma if they break up again)
-"Airplanes" By B.O.B. and Haley Williams (if they're going to do a hip hop song this is much better for them than freaking Empire State of Mind)
-"American Idiot" by Green Day (they have Green Day's catalogue and this is GD's poppiest song with any worth--sorry September song and Know the Enemy--the '90s stuff would not work on Glee)
-"Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel
-"Movin' Out" by Billy Joel
--"For the Longest Time" by Billy Joel
-"Your Song" by Elton John
-"Somebody Save My Life" by Elton John
-"All the Small Things" by Blink-182
-"I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett
-"Crimson and Clover," the Joan Jett version

I'll stop there. Honestly I keep trying to think of rock songs, but almost none of them would work on Glee unless they're somewhat poppish. And hip hop, as we all know, does not work with the Glee kids (Empire State of Mind is going to be painful to watch). I guess '80s pop, glamrock and show tunes is their bread and butter for a reason.

is it confirmed that the Britney SPears episode will be about Spears?

because i think this would be a fantastic way to give Brittany a full episode devoted to her with singing Spears songs and a cameo of BS.

come on BS is the perfect singer for a full Britanny episode.

They haven't really done a "Gaga" episode. The Madonna episode has 8 Madonna songs. Featuring two Gaga songs in one episode doesn't make it a "Gaga" episode.

There are going to be five Britney songs performed, and one unspecified non-Britney song at the end; the Britney songs are all going to be fantasy sequences induced by five characters going to see Emma's dentist boyfriend and getting put under with anesthetic: Rachel ("Baby, One More Time", Artie ("Stronger"), Will ("Toxic"), Brittany ("Me Against The Music"), and Santana (we don't know what she'll be singing yet).

I think my pants just exploded. I was excited for the Rocky Horror episode, and I was excited for whatever episode Adam Shankman was directing because in my opinion he is one of the best musical directors out there.

I didn't realize SHANKMAN was directing the Halloween episode. :awesome:

Is Shankman directing the Rocky Horror episode something I should be excited about?

Shankman knows how to craft a musical well. So I think he should be excited. It has potential to be the best episode of Glee ever.

to bad. i was really hoping for a Brittany episode where they use Britney Spears.

IMO a wasted opportunity

Oh I see.

I always treated her as a comic relief character

People think she's like that in real life but I doubt it.

Yeah, I doubt she grinds cars everyday. But I would love to see more of it on Glee.
