So ****ing what if it cut. The tease is the best part. And it's not like that's it, you get more of him later.

Look, I love the movie, but it is very understandable why that decision would rub some the wrong way. I was annoyed a bit the first time I saw it. After seeing it a second time, I wish I could change my vote on the poll.

While I do think some reactions seem to be exaggerating the issues, there is a completely solid base for it.

I loved this movie. But, as a Godzilla fan, I've come to terms that others might not like the same movies I like.

I'd also like to add there is a lot more visual nuance to this film than people are realizing. Especially between Ford and Godzilla, who almost have a parallel mission. I adored the shot of [BLACKOUT]Ford falling down, exhausted while looking at Godzilla doing the same. The eye contact moment earlier between the two was also chills worthy.[/BLACKOUT]

I got chills like 3 or 4 times during this film.

Just got back. LOVED it. I understand why some people feel cheated in those much-discussed scenes - it basically reached the point of cruel teasing after the first time. But it ultimately didn't bother me because the payoff was SOOOO worth it. I just loved how they treated the big guy here. I believe it was jmc who said he was like some mythic hero from a Western and I agree. I thought that was a wonderful approach, even if it is a drastic change from the original, where he was the primary threat. I thought it worked and still harkened back to the original anyway because he was still revered by certain characters as an almost god-like force of nature either way. This just put a more positive spin on that concept (which I'm guessing is a nod to later Godzilla films where he fights other threats, though I can't be sure about that since I haven't seen any of them). Yes, the human characters were indeed undercooked and underutilized, but at the end of the day, I didn't care, because everything related to the monsters was gold to me. 8.5/10.

My Godzilla figure has to be about 30 years old.

[drools]

The humans may be a bit weak, but I know I'm going to have a hard time not seeing Aaron Taylor Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen being married in Avengers.

I went in with low expectations and came out loving it, granted watching it in IMAX 3D probably helped a lot.

8/10

Saw it last night, and all I can say is it has beautiful shots of Godzilla and a decent final fight. At the end of the film lots of crowd members were angry, cursing up storms it was my first time seeing a crowd react that way. Although, One guy (no exaggeration) did clap.

So Godzilla's a guardian to the public by the end of the movie

In the sequel he'll probably do something that causes the public to turn on him.

:cwink:

He's going to take the blame for the murderous DA who fell from grace.:oldrazz:

I'm not 100% convinced a sequel is going to happen actually. I know money talks and the ending is such that it paves the way for future installments but I'm not sure what else a sequel can bring other than more of the same. To be fair though I'm not familiar with previous Godzilla films so maybe there's something that can be mined for future use.

I fell asleep in the movie. It was pretty boring. Really disappointed I spent $10 on it.

I find it so hard to believe when some of you say you fell asleep or dozed off. I really cannot grasp that.

I really enjoyed Godzilla, the third act made the slow build of the first two acts worth it. I did enjoy the tease of the fights early on while only showing glimpses of what happened. I really enjoyed Cranston in his role, wish though that the rest of the characters in the movie had more to offer though.

Christ, why do people who haven't even seen the movie decide to defend it by insulting others?

I dunno, I just do. And yeah I haven't seen it but everything that's described and all the spoilers is exactly what I love and wanted in this film. The slow build up, the teases. Everything. So I know I will enjoy it.

It isn't really slow build. They reveal him quite early.

You don't even need to see the movie to know that, that's what amazing about internet. You can just read about it, and when you read something you dislike, you dismiss it as crying.

Saves the money from the trip to the cinema, cinema ticket and actually sitting down 2 hours and getting bored by the movie. Smart move! ;)

Don't mind the slow, just what they were using to build it with wasn't very engaging.

You have a problem people who haven't seen a movie defending it. But what about when people don't see a movie and write it off entirely? Same **** dude. His particular post about was crying. Not everyone's. Many in here didn't like it and their posts were calm. His was very much crying and overreacting and just loud.

I guess it wasn't visually stimulating for the first forty-five minutes. I didn't get bored for a second, but I can understand why some would. The story was compelling and it kept my interest. The fight scene at the end really drove it home for me though. So good!

I fell asleep watching Pacific Rim though. Numerous times. If the story isn't good enough, I lose interest pretty quickly.
