‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ Marks Next Chapter for Toho’s Monster Saga

Toho has officially revealed the title of its next 'Godzilla' feature: 'Godzilla -0.0' (Godzilla Minus Zero).

Lets go. Pretty certain this releases next year.

Interesting title.

The “Godzilla: Minus One” title was a real life reference to the bombs being dropped in Japan in WWII which left devastation and brought everything back to zero, effectively back to the stone age. Then, Godzilla comes and makes things even worse, hence “minus one”.

“Godzilla: Minus Zero” implies that from the beginning of this next film, our characters are going to be starting from a much better place, with the “minus” being that one potential lingering problem of Godzilla or whatever the new threat of this movie will be.

I’ve seen some speculate that it could be Hedorah, based on the director’s past comments about remaking “Godzilla vs. Hedorah” with today’s technology allowing him to do it justice. Considering a lot of current talks surrounding the issues of the environment and global warming, it could be used to tackle a lot of really interesting topics.

Beside computing/programming (IEEE 754 standard) that I know of, there's no such thing as "-0".

If there's a threequel, it would have to be Plus One, right? Or Minus Two for a prequel...

The Heisei era is my overall favorite Godzilla era. I think those are the best collection of movies. If I had to pick a 5 favorite Godzilla films, I would probably go with:

Gojira
Godzilla Minus One
Godzilla vs Destoryah
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (Heisei)
Godzilla vs Biollante

Honorable mention for Tokyo SOS and Return of Godzilla
